"Has anyone seen Virat?" Gautam asked as he looked for everyone in the team bus.

Rohit shrugged without looking up from his phone, "He was with Southee earlier."

"Nahi, bhaiya was packing his kitbag just now," Shubman said with a shake of his head, confusing them more.

Ashwin who was sitting in the front seat sighed loudly, "You guys go on. I'll make sure he gets back safe."

"I'll come with you," Jaddu spoke up and the two boys walked out of the team bus, confusing everyone.

"Make sure he gets safe matlab? Kuch hua hai kya bhaiya ko?" Shubman thought out loud, worried as he watched the two seniors walk back to the stadium.

The captain and coach exchanged puzzled glances, both unaware about what had just happened.

"I'll go and see what's going on," Rohit stood up finally, nodding at the coach as he moved towards the door but a loud voice stopped him.

"Don't."

Everyone turned to look at Bumrah, who was sitting with a sullen looking Siraj at the back.

"They don't need any of us interrupting them right now," Jassi added and looked out of the window.

Rohit frowned at his words and returned to his seat, standing there as he stopped the driver from starting the bus.

"What do you mean?" Rohit asked him. "What could be there between the three of them that will be interrupted by us?"

"Shami used to tell me," Jassi said with a sad smile. "When you have a bad day at home, you learn to leave them alone."

"Them?" Gautam inquired, a little worried by the wan tone of his voice.

Jassi nodded and finally looked at them. "Virat bhai, Ash, Jaddu bhai and Ishant bhai."

"It's just one bad match. Why are they acting like it's the end of the world?" Rohit rolled his eyes. "We can still qualify for the WTC by winning four out fo the remaining six matches and-"

Siraj chuckled loudly and interrupted him with a shake of his head.

"It's not one bad match for them, bhaiya. It was their seven years of good cricket," He said in a small voice.

"Ghar ke matches ko kabhi halke mein nahi lena, miya. Ghar nahi killa banaya hai humne."

Siraj repeated the words Virat had told him before his debut in a choked voice, quickly looking down before anyone saw his tears.

And for the first time that evening, Rohit finally felt like he had lost something more than just a test match.

Neither Ashwin nor Jaddu said anything as they sat down on the bench beside Virat. The three of them kept staring at the Pune wicket with a lost expression.

"Tu thik hai?" Ashwin asked him after a few seconds and Virat shrugged.

"I didn't realise it until Rohit mentioned the 12 years in his press conference, you know?" Virat chuckled tonelessly.
