Sitting quietly in my office, my eyes scanning through each report carefully, rechecking the numbers for the 7th time, I lean back in my seat adding up the same total that wasn't matched with numbers logged into the system.
I haven't ate all morning, but my head is still clear and my math ain't off... so sumn definitely nuh right.
Hearing my office phone ring, I press the button for it to play out on speaker.
"Good morning ma– I mean Kali.. Miss Nadia is outside requesting to see you" Lauren's voice flowed through and I close my eyes for a brief moment, already knowing why she's here.
"You can send her in" I say before disconnecting the call.
Hissing my teeth, I close my MacBook the same time the doors to my office opened, Nadia walking in.
"Good morning" she smiles warmly, sitting in the chair across from me.
"Good morning.."
"I know it's a bit early and I just got the time to run through things, but I've been reviewing the figures for a few of our locations, and something's off. The third quarter revenue projections for last year are significantly below expectations, particularly in our top-performing properties. I'm trying to figure out if there's a mistype..?" she got right to it, resting her laptop down on my desk, opening it and turning it to show me the screen I was just looking at on my own device.
"Nads, me a go tell yuh the truth, from morning a it me a look pon too a rerun the numbers. At first, I thought it could be due to a mistake in reporting, but the pattern is too consistent in several locations... And it's waaaayy too much money missing for it to be due to a drop in occupancy."
