Quietly closing the front door behind myself, I let out a heavy sigh, standing in place for a few seconds, dreading being back home.
"O-oh! Mrs Fraser, you're back.." one of the maids walked up to me, taking my bag without saying anything else.
"Have you seen my husband?" I ask, ensuring to sound happy, including my fake smile.
"He.. um.. left a little earlier, saying if you got home before he did, you should give him a call" she tells me.
"Okay, thank you. You can take the bag up to the bedroom" I tell her.
"Yes ma'am" she nods, walking off and I immediately dropped my act, my face frowning up once again.
Removing my phone from the back pocket of my jeans, I found Jacob's number calling him as I continued my journey further into the house, making my way to the sitting room area.
The call soon connecting, his background was a bit noisy. "My love?" he's the first to speak and I internally cringed.
"My father wants to have dinner. Where are you?" I got straight to the point.
"I'm having brunch with a few developers" he informs me.
"Well, dinner is at 3. So wrap that up before then" I say, getting ready to hang up.
"Are you home?" he questions and I end the call, not bothering to respond.
Traveling to the kitchen, a smile immediately grew on my face seeing Elaine wiping down the marble countertops.
"You're back earlier than I was expecting" she spoke after spotting me, my legs leading me over to where she stood, hugging her frame from the back.
