Ava

"Thank you for helping me, Jon," I said, my voice still shaky.

"Nothing to thank me for," he replied, brushing it off lightly.

"No, really. You deserve—"

"Do you want to get back together?" he interrupted, his gaze unwavering.

"What?" I was taken aback, my heart racing.

"Ava, I love you, and the past few days have been so difficult for me without you," he confessed, vulnerability spilling from his eyes.

"Jonathan, I don't know..." I looked at him, uncertainty swirling within me.

"Okay, I get it." He sighed, the weight of my hesitation palpable. "I talked to your mom. You can go back to your house."

"How did you know about the conflict between me and Mom?" I asked, surprised.

"I knew everything about you," he said, his intensity making it hard to look away.

"Bye, Ava," he said softly, standing up.

"Bye, Jon," I replied, my heart heavy as he walked away.

As he disappeared from view, I felt a mix of emotions—confusion, longing, and an ache for something I wasn't sure I could embrace. The shadows of my past still lingered, but his presence had offered a flicker of hope amidst the darkness. I took a deep breath, ready to face whatever came next, one step at a time.

As I stepped outside, my phone rang. "Hello!" I answered, my heart still racing.

"Hi, sweetheart," came the familiar voice.

"Aaron?" My heart sank.

"Good girl," he replied, his tone unsettling.

"Where are you?" I asked, my pulse quickening.

"Look beside you," he instructed.

I turned, and my breath caught in my throat. Jonathan lay on the ground, blood pooling around him, a horrific scene that sent shockwaves through my body. "JON!!!!!!.......NO......NO....NO!" I cried, rushing to his side.

"Please wake up!" I begged, shaking him gently, but there was no response.

"Sorry, sweetheart, but he is dead," a voice said coolly from behind me.

Panic surged through me, and before I could turn to confront the voice, something struck my head hard. Everything went black, and I was plunged into darkness once more.

In that void, the chaos around me faded, but the weight of my fears pressed down. What had just happened? What would I wake up to this time?
