They finally arrived at the village entrance and stopped as Reggy approached one of the guards. Alex stood by, quietly listening to their conversation.

"Mr. Reggy, how are you? It’s been a while," one of the guards greeted him warmly.

"Busy, as usual, keeping an eye on Silent Forest activities," Reggy replied, showing the guard a card of some sort.

"Oh, I see. How’s the forest these days?" the guard asked.

"Nothing too serious, except for the occasional beasts wandering off course. I’ve had to hunt them down before they reach the west gate," Reggy responded casually.

"Hahaha, that’s just like you, Mr. Reggy. Thanks for keeping the village safe. Must be tough doing it all on your own, right?" the guard said with a chuckle.

"Haha, it’s not like you guys are completely helpless against them," Reggy joked back, and both of them shared a laugh.

Then, the guard glanced at Alex. "So, is he your illegitimate son or something?"

Reggy chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "Ahaha, no, nothing like that."

"Huh? Really?" The guard looked surprised.

"Haha, I found him in Silent Forest," Reggy explained.

"What?! Hey, you okay? Who’s your family?" the guard asked Alex, clearly concerned.

"Well, that’s the thing. I don’t remember anything," Alex replied.

"You’re joking, right?" the guard asked, confused.

"It seems like the kid went through something in the forest that caused him to lose his memory. He only remembers his name," Reggy explained.

"Ah, that’s rough. Well, by the way, my name’s Mark, and this is Jon. Nice to meet you and welcome to Vynra Village," Mark said.

"Thank you. My name’s Alex. I’m 28 years old," Alex replied with a smile.

Mark and Jon exchanged a glance and burst out laughing, clearly not believing Alex’s age. They thought he was joking. After a brief registration process for Alex, they finally passed through the gate.

The village of Vynra was warm and bustling with life. Vendors lined the sides of the road, selling various goods. There were inns, general stores, a blacksmith shop, and a few diners scattered around. It felt more like a small town than just a village, and Alex couldn’t help but be taken in by its charm.

After quite a walk, they entered a large, bustling building. Inside, they were immediately greeted by the sight of people enjoying their meals, laughter filling the air, and conversations overlapping in chaotic harmony. The atmosphere was lively, almost overwhelming. As Reggy made his way through the crowd, he was greeted from all directions—clearly, he was well-known here. This wasn’t surprising to Alex, as the same thing had happened during their walk through the village.

Alex followed closely behind until they reached what looked like a reception counter.

"Mr. Reggy, welcome! How are you?" asked the lady at the counter with a friendly smile.

"Hi, Lydia. I’m fine, thank you. I need to see the guildmaster—I have a report for him," Reggy said.

"Of course, Mr. Reggy. Please wait while I notify Mr. Glen," Lydia replied, still smiling.

Reggy nodded and led Alex to a nearby table, where they sat down and ordered some food. As they waited, Reggy explained that they were in the Adventurers’ Guild, which also doubled as a tavern for adventurers. Alex nodded, taking in his surroundings, his eyes wandering around the room.

After a moment, Alex turned to Reggy, his curiosity piqued. "Mr. Reggy, how old do I look to you?" he asked, remembering the laughter that had followed his earlier attempts to explain his age.

Reggy chuckled. "Does it bother you? Well, if I had to guess, you look around 17 years old—just a teenager," he said.

"Huh?" Alex was taken aback and immediately started examining himself. He hadn’t paid much attention to his own appearance since arriving, but now that he focused, he realized something was off—his body felt different, and even his height seemed slightly shorter than he remembered.

Confused, Alex asked Reggy if there was a mirror around. However, to his surprise, Reggy explained that mirrors were considered a luxury item, mainly used by the wealthy townspeople.

"Wait, what? Mirrors are expensive here?" Alex exclaimed, shocked by this unexpected revelation.

Reggy simply nodded, amused at Alex’s reaction.

After a while, the food arrived at their table, the aroma making Alex's stomach growl furiously. Reggy chuckled and invited him to enjoy the meal. They had a spread of fried chicken-like meat, creamy vegetable soup, bread, and ale—though Alex was served a blue juice that tasted like watermelon, which made him curious about its source.

As they ate, Lydia returned to inform Reggy that the guildmaster was ready to meet him. Without hesitation, Reggy made his way upstairs to the guildmaster’s room, leaving Alex alone to finish his meal.

Alex continued eating, but before long, Lydia came back and sat in a nearby chair.

"So, are you his child?" she asked.

"No, Mr. Reggy found me when I was lost in a forest," Alex replied, avoiding too many details.

"I see. May I know your name?" she asked again.

"I'm Alex. It’s nice to meet you," he said with a small chuckle.

"Haha, a little awkward, huh? At first, I thought you might be his disciple, but Reggy's too busy for that right now. Then I thought maybe you were his son or something... sorry," Lydia said with a smile.

Alex just laughed along with her.

"To be honest," Lydia continued, "I think Mr. Reggy could use a hand with his tasks. He should be training someone. He's not getting any younger, you know."

Alex's curiosity was piqued. "What kind of person is Mr. Reggy?" he asked.

Lydia leaned in a little, her voice softening. "Reggy is the guardian of Vynra Village. He's incredibly strong, even the Royal Army is afraid of him. He was a general once, but retired early after his family—who lived here—became victims of a tragedy about eight years ago. Since then, he’s been watching over the village. People still worry about him, though. We all hope he finds some happiness or maybe takes on a disciple to keep him from being so lonely."

Alex was surprised by the weight of Reggy’s past. The man seemed so carefree, but there was clearly a lot more beneath the surface. Lydia was called away to help some adventurers at the counter, leaving Alex alone with his thoughts.

Everything that had happened so far ran through his mind: the sage named Lorenza, magic, Reggy's mysterious past. He felt overwhelmed, but also excited. As he finished his meal, a decision formed in his mind.

"If I could get trained, gain knowledge here... I can travel this world," he thought, determined. Suddenly, a flash of memory hit him—it was vague, but familiar. He had said those words before, back on Earth. This realization only strengthened his resolve.

He would ask Reggy to train him. And maybe, just maybe, that would help him regain more of his lost memories.
