It was a stormy night in the royal city of Pride. Lucifer Morningstar had been staying at the hotel for a few weeks now, he was there to support his daughter, Charlie Morningstar, and her dream of redeeming Sinners. Alastor always thought the idea of Sinners being redeemed was naive and was doomed to fail, he loved watching people fail. Now, with Lucifer in the building, he and Alastor always broke out into random fights, even damaging the hotel in the process. It was always arguing and screaming at each other or attacking one another. Charlie was pretty fed up with their antics and called everyone into the main lobby for a new redemption activity.
"Alright, everyone! We are all here to do a new exercise. This will be about getting to spend time with someone you don't know very well and get to know them better!" Charlie spoke out with enthusiasm. "Here are everyone's partners: Angel will be with Pentious, Vaggie will be with Niffty, I will be with Husk, and Alastor will be with my dad!"
Alastor twitched at the thought of even being paired with someone so vile. He looked at the short king and back at Charlie, trying to keep his smile genuine.
"My dear, do I have to be paired with... Him?" He glared at Lucifer.
"Yes, Al, you do! You two are always fighting and that's a sign you two hardly know each other!! You two need to have a nice and responsible night in the town. Everyone should share their interests," Charlied replied and then spoke out for everyone.
Alastor soon lit up at the thought of sharing interests, he had many interests he could share with Lucifer. He walked back over to the King of Hell and his smile seemed genuine.
"Lucifer, my dear, I possibly cannot wait to share my interests with you! You'll be sure to love them all, I guarantee," He got in Lucifer's face a bit.
"I don't even wanna know the kind of shit you're into, Al. But, I'll do this for my girl. Let's go, show me your weird messed up interests," Lucifer replied, suspicious of Alastor's ideas.
Alastor and Lucifer began walking out of the hotel together. The city reeked more of death than usual, most of the street lights were either broken or not emitting enough light but that was Hell for you. During the long walk, Alastor walked by a tailor, he stopped and turned back. He motioned for Lucifer to join him inside, this was the first thing on his interest list.
"Seriously, you're interested in getting a suit fitted?" Lucifer asked with disdain.
"I was thinking you could change that outfit of yours! It's quite... Unique, dear. You could use a new look!" Alastor replied.
Lucifer crossed his arms over his chest, suspicious of what the Radio Demon had in mind. He looked over and noticed Alastor looking at different suits that could fit Lucifer's style more. He grabbed one that was red and had a light pink tent to it. Before the short king could even protest he was grabbed and immediately sized up for the suit. The tailor got to work on making it perfect for Lucifer.
"Hope you like what I picked, Old Scratch. Thought it was much more your style," Alastor had a smug expression on his face.
"Well, it's not terrible. It's kind of nice looking, Al. Thank you," Lucifer replied with a smile.
Alastor was stunned, he was kind of hoping Lucifer would say something hateful about it, and the fact he didn't, had him at a loss for words. A faint unnoticeable blush appeared on his cheeks, he didn't expect to be thanked either.
"Oh, you know, gotta look nice if you're ruling all of Hell or at the very least have some style!" Alastor mocked Lucifer's sense of style and laughed maniacly.
"Haha! You're right, I've been meaning to change my style for a while now. I was thinking of something with more ducks, hm?" He looked at Alastor, wanting to know his input.
Alastor was at a loss for words again, he didn't expect Lucifer to laugh and now wanted to know his input. He sighed and tried again to get the Ruler of All irritated.
"Ducks, you say? Such a foolish idea. Maybe something with a little more flare," He smirked, knowing this would get Lucifer going.
"Yeah, you're probably right. Not everyone in Hell would like ducks, what was I thinking?! Maybe a duck-yellow flare? That seems right," Lucifer nodded.
Alastor twitched, now irritated he couldn't get Lucifer upset, he gave up trying for now. Soon, the suit was done and handed to Lucifer to go put on. He got off the podium and went into the changing room. Alastor stood there, leaning on his staff, thoughts about Lucifer's comments swirling around in his mind. Lucifer stepped out and did a little twirl.
"So, whatda' think?" He asked.
"Stunning-" Alastor dug his claws into the nearby table, he couldn't believe he said that, he was quick to correct himself, "You look better now, Lucifer! Much better. That old outfit just wasn't you, I say."
"I know, I thought I looked pretty good in this too. I guess you and your style aren't all that bad, Al," Lucifer nodded and left the store with Alastor.
He began groaning and occasionally looking at Lucifer. By the third time he looked at Lucifer, he noticed he was admiring his outfit and even playing with the new bowtie. Alastor softly smiled and his blush softened. They continued to walk, and Alastor fixed himself to look more smug. Soon, he stopped walking and pointed his staff into Cannibal Town.
"Next stop on my interest list, my dear! Such a vibrant place, wouldn't you say?" Alastor walked in, Lucifer following close behind.
"Interesting." Lucifer constantly looked around to make sure no one would lunge at him.
As they walked, Alastor walked into Rosie's Emporium.
"Do my eyes deceive me? Oh, is that- Oh my stars, it is! Alastor, dearie!!" Rosie was excited to see her favorite best friend.
"Rosie! My dear, how have you been? Good, I hope. I have been on quite the trip. Sharing my interests with Luci here," Alastor turned to look at Lucifer who was fending off cannibals with angelic powers.
"Ah-Ah! Hey, get off and respect your king!" Rosie yelled at her people who decided to now bow for Lucifer. "Sorry, Your Majesty, they get feisty during happy hour!" She bowed.
Lucifer dusted himself off, "You didn't have to do that, I can handle myself, y'know. Just wasn't entirely expecting to be here today. This fuck, decided to drag me on interest sharing and I haven't gotten to share mine!" He laughed a bit and nudged Alastor.
"Alastor, dear, why haven't you taken his majesty to share his interests? That is quite selfish, my dear! I wouldn't expect anything less from you!" She giggled. "Now, now, you should get out of here and let him share what he enjoys, Al."
She walked off, as soon as Alastor and Lucifer were getting ready to leave. She came back and gave Alastor a box.
"Here, sweetheart. These are fingers, I know they make you happy!" She smiled one last time and went back inside.
Alastor thanked her and walked with Lucifer out of Cannibal Town.
"I know a great duck pond around here! I want to see if there's still that duck family living there," Lucifer began running to find out.
Alastor was surprised by the quickness and decided to run after, not wanting to be left behind. he stopped and his breath was now heavier. he looked over and saw the large pond filled with different Hell-Duck species.
"You don't have any bread, do you? Can I feed them? Tell me you have something!" Lucifer demanded.
"No, I don't carry such foolish things. You should have thought about that before we did this whole thing. What's with your strange obsession with these creatures?" Alastor asked as he stared at a Marbled duck.
"They're pretty, y'know? But shit, I don't have anything to feed them! I ALWAYS FEED THEM!" Lucifer ran off, probably to go purchase bread for the ducks.
Alastor just sighed and sat down on a nearby bench. He was exhausted from running. He looked over the pond and admired the ducks that were either swimming or waddling around. His smile seemed genuine again, he began thinking of Lucifer again. His whole body twitched and he covered his face with his hands as he groaned loudly.
"Why am I thinking about him?! He isn't even-..." Alastor sighed heavily, blushing slightly.
He looked back over the pond, upset with himself and his feelings. He hated feeling this way. Especially towards someone he had a lot of animosity towards. He tried to distract himself by looking away from the ducks but that only made it worse, he yelled out in anger. He was tired of this, he refused to believe he felt anything towards the Ruler of Hell. He forced himself to believe it was nothing and it was not serious. Lucifer came back over with bread.
"I got some bread! Wanna feed the ducks together?" He asked.
"I think I'm gonna back to the hotel, Lucifer."
Alastor began walking off.
"Hey, Al, wait!" Lucifer yelled. "Today was fun- Well, I had fun, thank you." He smiled.
Alastor just nodded and continued to walk back to the hotel. He entered the lobby, no one returned from their little adventure with one another so he just headed back into his his hotel room. He took his coat off and lay on his bed. He sighed, he knew he couldn't deny that he at least felt something around Lucifer but he was forcing himself harder that it was nothing and that it would turn into hatred... Or so he hoped. He turned over and closed his eyes, hoping to get rid of the thoughts but they only grew stronger by the second, making Alastor irritated.
"It's nothing! It's nothing, Alastor... Get a hold of yourself! this is nothing you can't handle! You know it... it's gonna form into some kind of malice soon, just have to wait it out a little longer than anticipated.." He growled.
He stirred a lot in his bed, "He isn't even all that, he's nothing if anything! He's... He's..." He sighed, at a loss for words. "Nothing I can't handle... I can get through this, I do not like the King of Hell, I hate him. He's a bitch and isn't worth the brimstone he walks on."
Alastor was hoping something would distract him from these feelings, it was getting worse with every second. He wasn't gonna let this little bump in the road stand his way, if anything he was gonna ignore it with every fiber of his being and move on, or at least try to.
