"I'm telling you, It was like stretching a muscle that i haven't used in years!"
Later that afternoon, I relayed my experience with Solomon to my sister, Princess Gemini.
Like me she sported blonde hair as gold as sunlight, though she had her hair cut into a bob that swayed over her shoulders. As we trekked through the royal garden of violets and morning glories, the late afternoon light shone on her violet eyes. She stopped to stoop over a strange green rose that had sprouted in our garden. THe chain mail she wore over her copper armor jingled. With scarred hands, she plucked the flower and brought it to her nose. She took a knee, the pleated armor skirt she wore spilling over her bare thighs.
"You don't say?" she replied sarcastically; the green rose pinched between her pointer finger and thumb must've smelled good.
I ignored her sly reply. "And the gratitude on his face. Even though he didn't know what I had done for him, it was like, somewhere deep within his subconscious, he was glad to be freed. Light, why did I ever stop using magic!"
Gemini twirled the flower between her fingers. "If you kept using magic, as I've been trying to get you to do, you'd be Emperor by now."
As the crown princess, I was next in line to be ruler of the empire. Gemini had constantly tried convincing me to claim my throne. She believed the Empire needed their ruler instead of the Congress.
Emperor Haethora has not been seen outside of her meditation chamber for years. Almost ten years in fact. The self proclaimed Imperial Congressman, aka mother's royal advisors believe mother won't exit her trance. THough some of us maintain hope that she will.
The rebel attack from ten years ago had left a hole in her, both physically and metaphorically, that is. Even though she was healed, her confidence as a ruler was shaken. She'd sent messengers to tell me to be ready to ascend to the throne several times, but I was too young to run an entire empire. Hell, the order in the Royal Palace didn't prosper under my supervision!
Gemini noticed my hesitation to her implication and sighed heavily. I helped her up from the dirt. She had pinned the green flower behind her ear. Redirecting the conversation elsewhere, I asked about her day. Normally she was off training with the knights, against everyone's wishes, but who could tell a princess no?
My sister was excellent at hand to hand combat, and was able to hold her own against seasoned commanders with decades of combat under their belts. Though she did have a trick up her sleeve.
Unlike me, Gemini had an affinity for electricity. The electricity powered her psychic gift to enter a person's mind and puppeteer them. By making an opponent throw a sloppy punch or simply stand still, she could redirect an attack and proceed to rain blows on her stunned target.
However, unlike water found using moisture in the air, electricity was rarely found in natural surroundings. To compensate, my sister wears gauntlets that expel electricity, which her copper armor is a great conductor for. After charging her armor, she calls upon her aura to access her psychic gift.
I expected Gemini to tell me about some match she held against some visiting commander she managed to anger. Instead she just smiled at me and said, "I think Janus has been busy lately. With a girl." she watched my jaw drop in surprise. I halted where I was; to my left was a sea of blue morning glories. Their petals folded closed as the sunlight left them.
Gemini had plucked the green rose from her ear and began twirling it again. Behind her were the blossomed violets that welcomed the last rays of sunlight.
"A... girl?" I squawked.
She stared down at the rose, a soft smile crossing ehr daydreaming face. "Mmm."
I took her hand in mine, arresting her gaze with my own. "I need you to tell me more than that!" I pulled her to a bench beside the open violets. I gestured at her hastily to elaborate. "Come now, spill it."
"Well," he planted the rose behind her ear again. She rubbed her palms on her knees as she inhaled. "Well it all happened when-"
