The Doppelgängers limped across the desert land that was once Chaos' field. They had dropped their disguise, no longer posing as the members of the Rebellion. Their skin was a sickly mix between gray and purple, which made their yellowed teeth and crimson red eyes stand out more horribly.
Their breaths were ragged and forced. Despite being utterly and completely unkillable, John Nobody's blast was able to injure them greatly, their uneven and lanky limbs covered with burns and flaking skin.
The Doppelgängers arrived at the entrance to Chaos' palace, which remained a grand sight, despite its age and wear from time and usage. They opened the massive palace doors, the handles of which were pearls sculpted to be skulls, representing the fear Chaos struck in all.
They limped inside the palace, their footsteps echoing through the massive halls and high ceilings that filled the grand area. Crushed gems and other valuables littered the floor, the evidence of Chaos' rage at The Rebellion's growing power.
Chaos heard the door to his littered yet grand palace open, and he rose from the shards of the valuables he had been wrecking. The Gigantons and Monsters were thankful that his riches were the victims of his wrath and not themselves.
Chaos glanced down the hall and moved from the shattered valuables toward the Doppelgängers. His footsteps, which mimicked the sound of earthquakes, were amplified by the echo in the great metal and gem-covered palace, causing the Doppelgängers to flinch.
"Why are you pests here?" Chaos said degradingly as he reached the Doppelgängers, stopping in front of them menacingly. The Doppelgängers looked up at him, fearful of Chaos. They knew they were invincible, but that didn't mean they were invulnerable, and the Doppelgängers were aware of this. So they chose to tread lightly when possible.
"We followed the plan, sir," One of the Doppelgängers said raspily, their vocal cords and throat injured from The All Power's blast. "Marythiya, Goddess of Knowledge, saw through our disguises, exposed us, then ran. Taking the All-Power with her."
Chaos clenched his fists as they broke the news to him. "She what?" He asked the Doppelgängers, even though he heard them perfectly clear. Stepping closer to them, towering over the Doppelgängers, who trembled in fear from Chaos' obviously angry demeanor.
"Sir, if we had known the Goddess of Knowledge was present, the plan would have changed," one brave Doppelgänger replied to Chaos' question.
"Where are they now?"
"Undetermined, sir."
"Do they have any of the other Guardians?"
"Undetermined." The Doppelgänger repeated, getting slightly nervous. Chaos sighed, annoyed with their lack of information.
"Is every single question I ask undetermined?" Chaos asked, gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. Chaos hated when he didn't get his way, which led him to rather unorthodox methods of obtaining what he desired, whether it be a physical object or the death of an enemy.
The Doppelgängers stood in incriminating and uncomfortable silence, showing their answer through silence and body language alone. Chaos let out a frustrated sigh.
"I want absolute certainty next time I ask you a question, understood?" Chaos asked the Doppelgängers, stooping down to their relatively small height. The Doppelgängers nodded, not wanting to say anything in the current moment.
"U-Understood, sir," one Doppelgänger said, stuttering as it spoke.
"Fury." Chaos called out coldly to his son, to which Fury flinched. Fury was hoping that he wouldn't be in trouble. It was his plan to use the Doppelgängers as traps after all, so it wasn't out of the question.
"Yes, dad?" Fury asked, swallowing his fear and slowly coming over to Chaos. Since his incident with Ataxia, his father had gotten him a second cloud to replace the one Ataxia took.
"I want you to scout out every single Humanoid settlement and destroy it. No remains, no survivors," Chaos said coldly, not bothering to look down at his son, instead choosing to face forward at the Doppelgängers. "Do I make myself clear?" He asked Fury, taking a deep breath in frustration.
"Yes, dad. I understand." Fury said, the hint of worry hiding under his determined tone. "I'll make you proud."
