The next morning I did my usual routine to get ready for work. Before leaving I checked my mailbox because the little red handle was up. As I shuffled through the envelopes of the same bills I needed to pay every month I noticed a smaller envelope with my name written on it.

I placed the other envelopes on top of the mailbox and ripped the small one open. I impatiently opened it and it was an invitation...to a location. Nothing else was written but an address. I smiled knowing who it was from. Kamala probably wanted to meet me in private. I flipped the little card over and read the back.

"2pm, Sunday 10/22"

That was today... shit. Taking my phone out of my pocket, I find Amber's contact and call her. Within two rings she picks up.

"Cassie, are you ok?" She asked with concern hitting her tone. "I have an emergency. Can you cover my shift?" She chuckles softly and I can hear her smiling through the phone. "I had a feeling that's what you were going to say" she says confidently.

"How did you know that?" I couldn't help but notice how strange Amber had been acting. Ever since last night there was a sudden energy shift. It wasn't hatred but it was more like she was up to something.
"Because you wouldn't have called me...you would have just showed up to work, you've been so paranoid since last night"

She was right I was but maybe I needed to not worry so much. "I'm sorry I'm just on edge, I'll text you later, thank you for today". I hung up before Amber could say anything else.
I looked up the address on google maps. Wherever this place was it was across town. I'd have to take 2 different buses because it was 2 hours away from me. It looked like some kind of venue? Why would she want to meet here?

Kamala should be happy that I like her a lot because that bus ride made my legs stiff. I got off feeling like an eighty year old woman.

The venue was a three block walk away from the bus stop. A good enough distance to stretch my legs out.
As I got closer I noticed people wearing shirts that said "Harris" on it. "What is going on?" I mumbled to myself. People wore blue hats while American flags clung to their necks like capes. Others held signs that also spelled her name in big white letters.

Some people gave me weird looks, understandably so since I didn't get the dress code memo. I wore a tight black compression shirt that showed off my slightly built arms. Slight baggy black jeans, Nike sneakers and a Nike cap because I left my hair down today.

When I got to the venue my mouth dropped looking at the giant banner that said "Harris Event" with a picture of her beautiful smiling face. Even her picture makes me want to melt right in this parking lot. I never cared about politics and I never cared to watch CNN but if she wanted me here for support I would have gladly said yes.

After going through a security check I was escorted to a front row seat after telling them my name. She really had everything planned out. I had to thank her afterwards.

The stage was set very basic, with three chairs and two tables, a few water bottles sat on the tables and a backdrop that said "Move Forward".

I spoke to some lovely people that sat next to me, they told me everything about her campaign and why they were voting for her and I felt deeply moved by everything they were saying. Suddenly music started to play and a man in all black came on stage. He explained that everything was going to be recorded and to please keep quiet until a necessary reaction was needed.

Two women came on stage ten minutes later and spoke about their organization. They spoke about how it was founded and the hardship they went through to get here. How it's helped women in our state, how they support the movement of women's rights and how Kamala would be a great fit for President if elected into office. I was enjoying the event so far. Soon after the women finished talking they gathered an applause from the audience and welcomed Kamala on stage.
