Very slowly Viv opened her eyes after a pretty good night's sleep. She had woken up as always by her natural alarm clock. Due to the fact that she actually always has an early training during the week, which starts at 8.30am and she had to drive to the training field and let Myle out and drop her off at the daycare, it is in her rhythm to get up early, also in the weekend.
Very far away she heard Myle's squeak, the sign that the dog was awake and needed some attention. Today would really be a real weekend day, like she often spent on a unique free weekend. She exchanged her pyjamas for her tracksuit and walked into the living room. She immediately stopped walking as she entered the living room. Suddenly she realized the reality, that the door of the guest room was closed, that Beth was here with her in the house, which she seemed to have forgotten for a moment.
To her great gratitude the door of her bedroom was still closed, she was probably still sleeping soundly. She didn't wake up herself, assuming that Beth slept well all night and therefore didn't need her. She hoped with all her heart that Beth was still in that room, that she hadn't run away during the night because she felt guilty about moving in. But Viv didn't think so, knowing how much Beth was starting to feel at ease.
As quickly as she could, she tiptoed towards Myle, who was squeaking at Viv from her basket. 'Shhh my baby girl. I'm here. Try to stay quiet, because we have a guest who's still sleeping, remember?'. Viv carefully opened the back door, letting Myle run into the backyard. She decided not to go to the woods, like she normally does in the morning, as she wanted to be here when Beth would wake up.
She looked at the little dog who was running around enthusiastically. She was already grateful for the fact that she had Myle in the first place, that she had built such a strong bond with her. But now that she had also found Beth in the woods, had performed a heroic deed and had found a new friend for her in Beth, she was even more grateful for her.
'Come on you, time for some breakfast'. Viv filled Myle's food bowl and water bowl, so that she would at least have her breakfast. She herself hadn't eaten anything yet, she wanted to have breakfast with Beth and not wake her up with the loud noise of the coffee machine. But she had no idea what Beth's sleep pattern normally looks like, whether she sleeps late or, like Viv, isn't a late sleeper, so she also had no idea when Beth would appear.
She had to go to the supermarket today since she didn't have much left in the house and didn't have any food left for tonight. But because of a party that is being organised in Manchester tonight, the shops will close at 11.30am, so Viv had to go to the shops before then. The minutes slowly ticked away on the clock, so at 8.30am she decided to make breakfast and wake Beth up.
With the rolls in the oven and the table set, Viv walked towards the closed door. She stood there, not entirely at ease. It felt like a big step, just entering Beth's privacy, but she knew she had no other choice. She carefully lowered the latch and opened the door, revealing Beth, who was completely hidden under the covers, still deep in dreamland with a small smile on her face.
'God, I can hardly bring myself to wake you right now, but I have to, otherwise it will be black buns in a moment and we won't have any food tonight'. She carefully sat down on the bed next to Beth and placed her hand on top of the covers, on Beth. 'Hey Beth, good morning'. Beth slowly opened her eyes and saw a woman sitting on her bed. For a moment she looked up in surprise, until she realized it was Viv looking at her, who had woken her up in the most loving way.
'Hey goodmorning Viv'. As Beth did her morning stretches, Viv watched lovingly. 'I'm so sorry for waking you up, but I have to go to the supermarket later and I didn't want you to have no idea where I am on your first morning here. I made breakfast, which will be ready in about 5 minutes. Can you get yourself ready in five minutes?'.
