An hour later Viv walked out of the bathroom, they were both fully showered, warmed up again and could enjoy the rest of the day together. In the meantime the bad weather was coming this way hard, the first snowflakes seemed to fall very slowly and the wind picked up considerably. Beth had left Myle in the garden to do her business while Viv was showering, but the dog also seemed to enjoy the warmth of the house more and was done within two minutes.
'Viv, what are we going to do for the rest of the day? Do you have any plans?'. There was no response from Viv, which was abnormal for Viv who seemed to be full of ideas, whose brain never shuts up. She walked towards her, to the great surprise of Beth, who had no idea what was currently going on and what awaited her. It was clear that Viv had clearly come up with a plan that she knew nothing about.
Viv held out her arms towards Beth, to which she responded by grabbing her hands. 'Viv, what is this? What are we going to do?'. A small smile appeared on Viv's face. 'Hmmm, you nerves? Come on, I have a surprise for you'. Viv walked towards the guest room, Beth's bedroom, with Beth following her, who still had no idea what was in store for her, but whose heart rate shot up considerably.
'Here, come on. Lie down. I'll just grab some things.' Beth did as she was asked, had no idea what Viv had in store for her now. Until she suddenly heard something rolling, a familiar sound, the sound of the ultrasound machine rolling this way. But huh? She already had an ultrasound a few days ago, why would they do another ultrasound now?
Immediately, a kind of fear shot through every fiber of her body. Was something wrong? Did Viv notice that something was wrong with her baby bump while exercising? Would this fantastic day be ruined by bad news about her baby? No way? That couldn't be right? Then Viv wouldn't be so calm now, would she? But then, what was the reason for her to have another ultrasound?
Suddenly Viv appeared around the corner, with a machine which indeed rode on wheels. But it wasn't the ultrasound machine. It looked like it, but it wasn't quite the same. 'Viv, what are you doing? Is something wrong with my baby?'. Viv didn't answer, which didn't help Beth's worries at all. Viv set the machine and then shifted her focus to Beth. 'I want to help you get rid of Steve as soon as possible. I don't want him to have any influence on your life anymore Beth, while you are such a strong independent woman yourself. And even though we both know that this baby will always have Steve's genes, I want to show you that the baby is a copy of her mommy'.
Of course Viv had already seen it on the 2D ultrasound from a few days ago, that the nose, the mouth, basically everything, was absolutely a copy of Beth. Viv was really grateful that this baby actually didn't look like Steve at all, but was an exact copy of Beth, which would make her forget Steve as soon as possible. 'I want to do a 4D ultrasound, so that you can really see your little girl'.
Beth looked at Viv questioningly, a 4D ultrasound? She had never even heard of it, had only heard of the classic black and white 2D ultrasound, like the one Viv had done of her belly earlier. 'If you don't want it, then of course you don't have to, but I think it can make the bond with your baby belly and of course with your baby even stronger. But don't do anything against your will'.
Beth looked at her again in surprise. This life, this Viv, this offer. Wow... Once again she was blown away by what Viv gave her. 'Uhm, I... Jesus... I didn't even know that things like that exist. But I would love to see my baby even better'. Viv looked at her, a smile on her face, knowing from experience that it can be comforting for single or abandoned mothers to see that their baby looks like them. Even better for Viv was hearing that Beth had started talking about her baby from a different perspective. It wasn't 'the baby' or 'her and Steve's baby' anymore, it was her baby, as she herself has come to say, even though Beth doesn't even consciously realize it yet.
