Wasp'Whisker rose from her nest, looking to Orchid's empty nest. She walked out, the dead fall leaves crunching under her paws. A chilly breeze floated through her thick fur as she looked around the camp. She noticed a grey tom heading out on a solo hunt.
"Did I wake up that late..?" She muttered to herself, looking up at the sun in the sky.She shook her head to wake herself up while she thought of what to do. She turned and saw Orchid sending out patrols in her organized manner. She walked up the long log that orchid sat on, it rested on a rock keeping it a slope.
She made it to the top and sat next to Orchid.
"Morning wasp," orchid said as she sent the last patrol out, Now the camp was almost empty aside from a few kits tumbling around.Orchid stood up and nuzzled Wasp'Whisker on her way down the log.
"Could you go out on another spy patrol? We need more intel and cats if we're going to win,"Orchid said casually as she walked by."Yeah.. sure." Wasp'Whisker shouted, unsure.
She hopped down from the log, not bothering to climb down the traditional way. She padded out of the camp to the raging river. The camp was a small island that sat in the middle of a rushing river. The slippery rocks inside the river were worn down from jumping cats leaving mark for grabbing onto in the case of a storm. Wasp'Whisker leapt from one rock to another until she reached moss tribe territory.
She leapt into the thick trees, and began rushing from one tree to another like a squirrel. She scatter around, a few leaves falling down as she rushed through. She murmured to herself, until she spotted a cat out of the corner of her eye.
She quickly followed the cat, keeping silent in the trees to not raise suspicion. She listened intently, leaning in to see the cat better.
It was a small, short haired, Tom. "Run away! They said.." he muttered "You'll be free! And safe! And happy! They said.." he hissed weakly "But they never said I'd get sick every other.."
Wasp'Whisker was intrigued, a Loner! and their frustration with their placement might give them a reason to betray their loner status and join the glorious hemlock clan.
Wasp'Whisker kept her eye on this mysterious cat, her thoughts swirling. She followed the Tom to a ceremonial spot of the moss tribe territory. The mossy rocks represented all cats who died in the tyrannical rule of Hemlock'Spring.
To the hemlock clan the spot was an insult and they often destroyed the moss growing on the rocks. She watched as the Tom stopped halfway through the area. Wasp'Whisker was intrigued and leapt out of the trees, slowly approaching.
The Tom kicked at the dirt, oblivious to Wasp'Whisker. The Tom stopped and stared in the distance space for a long, long while. Wasp'Whisker realized the Tom seemed to be out of it and sat on a nearby rock to wait for them to come back into reality.
After a few moments the cat seemed to come back, they looked to the ground, and before Wasp'Whisker could say a word the Tom threw up.
"Eugh.." The Tom murmured and wiped his mouth with his paw, then rubbed his paw in the leaves.Wasp'Whisker blinked a bit of shock. She was about to say something when-
"Welcome back, you seemed to be out for a while." Wasp'Whisker turned to the familiar voice, Orchid."Orchid! Why in the weeds Were you following me!?"
Wasp'Whisker shouted slightly peeved.
"Calm down Wasp'Whisker, this could be a new member.." Orchid said calmly."I know that! If you had let me, I would've recruited 'em already!" Wasp'Whisker snapped back. The other cat started to freak out, breathing heavily.
"Stop!" The Tom shouted "Please stop arguing.." he murmured again afterwards, curling up as if holding himself. Orchid shot Wasp'Whisker a look then walked over to the Tom.
"Say, you seem troubled, what's your name, huh?" Orchid asked with a touch of empathy, making Wasp'Whisker raise a brow.
"Ugh.." the Tom muttered then made a strange sound similar to a rattle "I think..?"
"Your name is.. a rattling noise?" Wasp'Whisker slightly hissed,"Sh!" Orchid shushed Wasp'Whisker, getting a hiss In Return, and a flinch from the strange Tom.
"Why don't you come to Hemlock Clan?" Orchid asked with a friendly smile."Egh.." the tom rubbed his head, "ok sure.." he murmured wincing a bit. Wasp'Whisker continued following behind as Orchid lead the tom to the camp.
They entered the camp, the medicine cat peaking from their den."Cats of the glorious hemlock!" Orchid shouted as cats gathered around. "We have a new member! We'll just call you.. Mmm Rattle..Paw."
"yeah Rattle'Paw." Wasp'Whisker said hiding her annoyed attitude. The clan cheered a bit as the meeting continued.
"Rattle'Paw, your mentor will be.." Orchid looked around for any volunteers, but no one wanted to mentor the scrawny cat. She gave up looking and decided to wait to find a mentor for the Tom.
Wasp'Whisker stayed seated after the meeting, and Orchid approached her."Hey..I'm.. sorry for following you, in reality I just wanted to see what you did on spy patrol. I understand you're an adventurous cat and you want to go on more battle or hunting patrols, but we don't have anyone else that can climb like you.. perhaps next meeting I could give you an apprentice that you could teach to spy for us instead so you wouldn't have to go on these-" Wasp'Whisker cut orchid off.
"Calm down, I'll take up an apprentice and teach a few warriors how to do it, just keep me off the spying stuff for a few moons." Orchid smiled.
"Alright, I just really want to be certain we could beat them in a war.."
"I know."The sun set upon the camp a few cats stayed out for nocturnal patrols and guarding. As the two she's rested nicely in their den.
