Chapter 5. Shock

Pumpkin'Paw had wandered far from her patrol, good. She hated all those cats. WillowPaw was a snitch, pretending to be shy and then tattling off, she was so sensitive and would cry if you even thought about hitting her.
Root'Hiss and evergreen'jump weren't much better, they were made warriors early and thought they owned the place. They were only made warriors early because they just LOVE to do Sunflower'Spring favors and do all her dirty work.

She had pretended to walk off aimlessly but she just used her medicine cat training as an excuse to look at plants and wander off from the pesky patrol. She knew she had to turn back before she got in trouble though.

"Trees, I wish they'd all just heel over dead!" Pumpkin'Paw hissed as she arrived at the scene.  She took a good look at what lay before her, Willow'Paw was missing and Root' hiss and Evergreen'jump lay on the ground bleeding from their neck and throat. 
Pumpkin'Paw almost didn't care, she was more shocked than distraught, she barely knew these cats and what she knew she didn't like.

"Hm, WillowPaw's missing, maybe this was a hit and run-" she gasped "Oh the irony.. Willow'Paw, a traitor!" She chuckled to herself, before reminding herself about the two dead cats.

"Well.. I better tell the tribe before someone thinks I did it." She muttered to herself, she bounded towards the camp.  She put on a terrified expression, if she acted like she didn't care they'd suspect she did it, last thing she needed was to be a murder suspect. 

"Root'Hiss and Evergreen'Jump are dead!" She shouted as she pushed through the bushes and into camp. 
Every head turned to her panicked expression.  Murmurs spread through camp like wildfire as Sunflower'Spring sent two warriors with Pumpkin'Paw. 

"This is where I found their bodies, I was wandering off to find more poppy and when I came back I saw these two bodies!" She explained, "WillowPaw was missing, I think she might've killed them and then ran off." She finished explaining to the warriors. 

"I'll take your word for it, you're a Medicine cat apprentice after all, plant'laugh, you go check for Willow'Paw, I'll go burry these two." Lime'light gave the orders and grabbed Evergreen'Jump, dragging him off. 

As Pumpkin'Paw watched she noticed the marks on his throats were that of a larger cat's, and the bite on Root'Hiss's neck was too big to be from WillowPaw.
Well that doesn't prove her innocent, she probably had outside help.

"Pumpkin'Paw why don't you go get some more herbs?  The herb pile is running Low." Said Lime'Light, Pumpkin'Paw held back a Hiss.  Lime muttered to himself as he left..
"Who's been killing all these patrols..?"

Of course, more herb duty, I'll just stop by Ferret'Nap's home.

Pumpkin'Paw simply walked off towards the mossy rocks, as a thought came to her.
Ferret'Nap is large enough to leave those marks..
could she had killed them?  That's sweet!  She must've remembered me complaining about them!  Maybe she even killed Willow'Paw!  How nice..

she stopped thinking as she arrived at mossy rocks, she walked over to the rock formation she had made for Ferret'Nap's home. 

She poked her head in
"Wake up Ferret'Nap!!" She shouted in a singsong voice.
Ferret'Nap was in the corner curled up in a ball, she rose her head tiredly. 

"Did you bring me food?" She asked excitedly.
"Don't you hunt when I'm not here..?" She asked curiously.  Ferret'Nap looked at her blankly
"NO." She said bluntly unblinking as she stared into Pumpkin'Paw's eyes. 

"Oh- okay Then."  Pumpkin'Paw was a little shocked, she didn't come to Ferret'Nap enough times to feed her well. Knowing this new information Pumpkin'Paw wanted to catch extra prey, so that Ferret'Nap would be well fed by the time she was able to sneak back to her friend.
