Checking military records was a good idea. Their hyung was not the age to be conscripted, if the age they estimated him to be as accurate, but that didn't mean he did join earlier. The idea of checking military records also gave them the idea to check school records. They had a rough idea what he looked like thanks to their parents description of him, so armed with a last name, rough description, and an estimated age of 23 - 24, they split the search. Hoseok and Jimin would search military records and Tae and Jungkook would search school records.
Which is what Taehyung found himself doing in between his classes. He sat in the university library searching through the records of Seoul elementary schools located in or around the area where both sets of parents met the boy all those years ago.
This was day two of the search through the school records and so far no luck. Until the next photo caught his eye.
Kim Seokjin.
He best matched the description given by Kookie's and Jimin's parents. Dark almond shaped eyes, cherub cheeks despite a skinny build, skinny to the point of being scrawny, and plump lips.
Taehyung decided to track the boy by searching through digital copies of the school's yearbook, following him to highschool when he froze.
'Wait...'
He'd seen this boy before. A distant memory came to his mind...
"What was that about?"
"Nothing really, guy showed me an old picture of some kid and asked if I'd heard of or seen him."
"Really, who was he looking for?"
"Said the boy's name was Kim Seokjin, he'd be in his 20's by now. He's been missing for years. Ran away apparently. He looked so sad. I hope he's happy, wherever he is..."
Tae quickly opened ancestry.com and typed in the boy's name, scanning all the results until he found the one he wanted and clicked on the button that said birth certificate.
Name: Kim Seokjin
Date of Birth: December 4 1992
Father's Name: Kim Jongshin
"Holy shit..."
_____
Namjoon towered over Han Chin-hae, his shadow for the past few days, "Where is Jongshin?"
Chin-hae looked up at the young officer from his position on the apartment floor, "I won't say anything without a lawyer."
"A lawyer," Namjoon chuckled, "does this look like a police department to you?" He squatted down to Chin-hae's eye level, though his superior height still had Chin-hae looking up at him, "Now, you're gonna tell me where Jongshin is, or we're gonna have a problem."
"You can't threaten me."
"I don't make threats. Now, where's Jongshin?"
Chin-hae stubbornly remained silent.
"Still nothing," Namjoon said as he stood to his full height, "perhaps an incentive is in order." Chin-hae looked up at Namjoon warily as the young officer stood up to his full height as he continued to address the cuffed man on the floor, "I wonder what your family, friends, and coworkers think of your... extracurricular activities."
