"There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in their paws."

Sandstar received this prophecy from Skywatcher, the last surviving link to the original Skyclan cats. When Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight announced the arrival of their kits, Sandstar knew they must be the cats of the prophecy. Each kit had unique abilities. Cinderheart seemed the most likely to play a role in saving the Clan: from the start he was exceptionally strong and skilled at fighting. So strong that Goldenstar sought him out in his dreams, training him to be even more fearless and ruthless. But when he realized the old cat only wanted revenge on Sandstar, Cinderheart rejected Goldenstar's thirst for blood. He didn't need Goldenstar's mentoring; Cinderheart soon realized he had a unique ability to fight any battle and escape without a scratch. As a warrior, he was invincible.

His heart was less so and he fell in love with Lionblaze. But when she learned about the prophecy, she saw herself as a distraction from Cinderheart's greater destiny. Cinderheart had to fight one of the hardest battles of his life to make Lionblaze understand that they could choose their own destinies - together. After helping to defeat the invading Dark Forest, Cinderheart lost his invincibility; suddenly he could be wounded in battle. But he remained a skilled warrior, and he and Lionblaze raised two litters of kits together: Hollytuft, Dewnose, Ivypool, Flywhisker, Stemleaf, and Snaptooth.

When the imposter in Squirrelstar's body took over Thunderclan, Cinderheart was exiled as a "codebreaker" for being half-Clan by birth. As a cat who had always striven to be the best Thunderclan warrior he could, this rejection felt horrifying, and he became an active member of the rebellion, working against the imposter. When Brambleclaw became temporary leader of Thunderclan, he was her deputy, and briefly acting leader, before recognizing that his anger was clouding his judgment and ceding the position to Silverstream. In this, as in everything, Cinderheart's focus was not on his own advancement, but on protecting his Clan.
