After the incident that take place in the Upper Level where the Hero's Party get transported into 65th Floor thanks to Daisuke's idiocy for activating a trap. Fall into the deepest part of the labyrinth, they reach the a place known as the "True Labyrinth" and where even stronger monsters can easily kill anyone from the Upper Level. Ren and Otoya trapped below, and found a place known as the Sealing Temple where two legendary beings are sealed. Meeting Dragblacker and Goldphoenix, they decided that this can be use for their goal.

(Flashback)

While staying in the cavern for safety, Ren and Otoya are having their meal while talking to each other.

Ren: Say, Otoya... After we getting out from here, what do you want to do?

Otoya: I'm going to find a way to go home.

Ren: Home?

Otoya: Yeah... This world is too sketchy, and I rather have my own normal life back.

Ren: Right... Yeah, you're right. Same with me. I like our old life back.

Otoya: I don't care about anything else. I want to go home.

Ren: Let's do whatever it takes to go home then. I don't care about anything else, too. Although I might want to give a hit onto Hiyama for his idiocy... Might even asked Kousuke to come with us.

Otoya: Kousuke, huh? Okay then. He's our friend, too. How about Shirasaki and Yaegashi?

Ren: What's with them?

Otoya: They deserve to go back home, too. Also you still haven't said anything to Yaegashi.

Ren: H-Hey, why should I say anything to her?!

Otoya: When will you two ever say anything to each other?

Ren: I-I don't know what you're talking about! Hmph! Let's just finish our meal and get back to rest!

He eat his sandwich "viciously" before drinking the water. Otoya simply chuckle and finish his own meal.

Upon meeting with the Chaos Bringer and the Divine Messenger, Ren and Otoya learn few more about this world and why they are summoned there. When talking about the contract, Ren and Otoya become interested as it require that they need to make a mutual agreement, but also so that the beasts can left the temple.

Ren: *smile* Huh... So we can make a deal, or you stay sealed here for another period of time.

Goldphoenix: Yes, you have grasp it. Until a deal is formed, you cannot take us out from this sealing temple.

Otoya: However, it sounds way too sketchy. Hey, is there a catch in this deal?

Goldphoenix: Unfortunately.

Dragblacker: Why do you keep telling them more and more?!

Goldphoenix: It is true that forming contract with us will grant you our power, however... You need to discard your own humanity in order to get such power. Which means you either fuse with us, or coexist with us. Our power will slowly turn you into the very being we are now.
