Chapter 7 | Standing Next To You: The Heart's Dilemma

You all came back from the auditorium after dance practice, chatting. You spotted Jungkook waiting for you. He smiled, and you smiled back, feeling comfortable. You walked over, and Jungkook handed you juice and some chocolate. You took it from him happily.

You felt warm at his gesture, he never failed to take care of you.

Jungkook- Drink the juice; it might boost you up.

You nodded, grinning, as you both walked.

Jungkook- How did the practice go?

Y/n- Great! Everyone is doing well, and Jiho's progress is superb.

Jungkook smiled and nodded.

Jungkook- Good to hear, but you could've taken a break today.

You raised an eyebrow.

Y/n- I get this every month; I can't rest all the time. Sometimes I need to step out of my comfort zone, especially with sports day coming up. I need to focus on the dance.

Jungkook shook his head, still smiling.

Jungkook- As if the sports day would be a flop without you performing.

You nudged his arm playfully.

Y/n- I'm doing all this for you, idiot, so you can be energetic on the day while playing. Show some gratitude, monkey.

Jungkook scoffed.

Jungkook- As if I begged you on my knees.

You rolled your eyes, feeling relaxed.

Jungkook- Just remember, you're taking part in the sports event as well, and don't get too carried away with the dance and put all your energy in it...... Will you be able to keep up yourself through out the day?

You looked at him, smirking.

Y/n- Bro, do you even know who you're talking to? My friend is the sports captain! You really think I can't keep up my energy throughout sports day?

Jungkook chuckled, shaking his head.

Jungkook- Fair point, but just don't overdo it, okay?

You waved a hand dismissively.

Y/n- Please, I thrive on this stuff! You know I love the hustle.

Jungkook smiled, his eyes sparkling with admiration.

Jungkook- I get that. Just remember to pace yourself. I don't want to see you collapsing from exhaustion.

You rolled your eyes but couldn't hide your grin.

You both continued walking, the playful banter easing the tension.

Jungkook- Just promise me you'll take care of yourself, okay? I don't want you running on empty.

You rolled your eyes but smiled.

Y/n- I promise. I know how to handle my energy.

Jungkook- Good! I'll hold you to that.

You nudged him again, feeling comfortable with the teasing.

Y/n- How's your practice going for the handball competition? I swear this time it's gonna be fire.

Jungkook smiled confidently.

Jungkook- True, it'll be our time to shine and teach that Baekhyun a lesson.

You nodded as you looked at him.

Y/n- Just take care of yourself. Don't overdo it, and be careful not to get hurt in the process. It's okay if you lose the game; all that matters to me is your well-being. Got it?
