Amber was in an unsettled mood. She had absolutely no idea what she was doing with herself, and it was mainly because of her recent break up.

Her heart felt unsettled, and her feelings were all over the place. She couldn't concentrate, she couldn't think, and she couldn't sit still even a little bit.

Amber loved Mason, that part was a hundred percent true. It was why she was reacting this way.

The two of them had been dating for years now, and for her, it had felt almost like their need for each other would never end. But just like that it had ended.

The sweet passionate love they had experienced, and felt for each other for so long had indeed vanished.

There were many reasons why it had happened, too many to count actually.

Did she regret it? Maybe

Did she feel like she had done the right thing? Yes....yes she did.

Even so, Amber just wished that things would go back to the way they used to be, to the way they were so long ago.

Yes, that's right, once upon a time Mason MacMiller had actually been a decent person, someone people could actually enjoy.

The old him, the one she loved, was kind, funny, and compassionate. He had strong emotions, and he never failed to comfort her in her times of need. His touch was everything she ever needed to feel safe, his words were her rock, and his presence was her shield. He was everything that she ever wanted to see in someone she dated....he was her one true love.

That's right, she loved him.

But unfortunately for Amber, things hadn't gone as she would have wanted them to go. As time went on "The Man" she loved had slowly begun to change into something she wasn't sure she liked. She suspected it was probably because of his dad, in fact she was sure it was because of him.

Mason's father had begun to teach him how to survive in the business world, and this had made Mason distant, cold, and almost a shadow of his old self.

Amber knew how fragile Mason was, and how emotional he could get. But one thing was for sure, his father didn't give the slightest shit about anyone's emotions, especially not his son's.

He knew he couldn't have the heir of his business empire being a weak fragile loser that could be messed around with, and tossed back and forth by everyone. He wanted Mason to be tough, ruthless, and decisive, and unfortunately for Amber, that's what Mason became.

At the time, she was okay with it, she understood exactly what he was going through, and why he was doing it.

But things got considerably worse when the EIRD Boys decided to elect him as their leader.

It was at that point that Mason became truly unbearable, it was almost as if the power he had been given over the school had clouded his judgement.

He became painfully harsh, and what Amber hated the most, was that he seemed to not be able to take no for an answer. It made her feel unloved, and for her it felt as if Mason had completely changed into something that she truly hated.

So slowly but shortly she decided to gradually distance herself from him.

Then what started as distancing, became avoiding, and eventually it led to her completely breaking their relationship into pieces.

She did regret it, but she knew she had no choice but to do it.

It was the only way for both of them to finally be free.

"Amber, I'm headed to the cafeteria. Want to come with?" Lila asked, holding Amber's hand. She wore a lace jacket over her uniform, and a large pair of styled glasses.
