His Secret Desires

Chapter 11

With the assailants subdued and the area secured, Hunt and the officers led Kei and Axel to a police camp, the handcuffed assailants in tow.

A handsome, tall man in a police uniform stood near the entrance, casually sipping from a steaming cup of coffee. The man's eyes darted between Hunt, Kei, and Axel, taking in their disheveled appearances and the handcuffed assailants behind them.

Nakangisi itong lumapit kay Hunt. "Long time no see, Capt."

"Indeed, Miller."

"What do you have here early in the morning, Cassidy? Minsan na nga lang magkita, hindi pa regalo ang dala." Biro nito.

"You're wrong," Hunt shook his head, smirking,  "Regalo itong mga dala ko para sa'yo, Miller. So I suggest you get to work now."

The Miller guy let out a sigh before issuing instructions to the officers standing guard over the assailants. He ordered them to take them away, ensuring their temporary absence from the scene.

He then shifted his attention back to Hunt and the rest, addressing them with a professional tone. "I need to get a statement. Who's going to tell me what happened?"

Hunt's gaze flicked towards Kei and Axel, silently gesturing for them to speak up.

Kei stepped forward, "Let me. It was my phone that was stolen."

Tumango si Miller, "Follow me."

Kei obediently trailed after Miller, slightly feeling awkward since it's gonna be his first time being interviewed by the police, and although he had done nothing wrong, a subtle sense of unease gripped him.

Hindi ba sila papagalitan sa pambubugbog na ginawa nila sa mga lalaki kanina? Lalong-lalo na siya bilang opisyal ng gobyerno.

Well, they can rule it out as self defense, so he has nothing to worry about, right? Siya naman ang biktima.

But the ones Axel fought sustained great injuries! Hindi naman siguro ito ikukulong, no?

If that's the case, then Kei will just use his connections to get Axel out. He knows some people. At kasama naman nila si Hunt, the greatest connection you can ever have.

Hindi naman sila nito papabayaan, diba?

Parang nababaliw na si Kei. Instead of focusing on the events to explain, he found himself mentally rehearsing the reasons he could give to avoid getting into trouble.

Kei was so engrossed in his internal monologue that he barely noticed Axel's presence following behind him.

It wasn't until he turned around, catching a glimpse of Axel's gaze focused on him. Halata ang pagtataka sa mukha ni Axel habang nakatingin sa kanya.

"Why do you look nervous, Dumbass?" Axel asked. Kanina niya pa kasi napapansin na parang butete ito sa kalikutan.

Kei's footsteps faltered slightly as Axel's question pierced through his thoughts. "You'll come with me to the interview?"

Tumango si Axel. "Of course. I was a victim, too, y'know?" 

Kei took a moment to compose himself, realizing that seeing Axel just a step behind him had calmed his nerves.

At least he's not going alone now. Dalawa na silang magsisinungaling kung sakali.

Two is better than one ika nga ng iba.
