Chaeyoung isn't thrilled about her new neighbor. Sure, she's hot, last time that the blonde checked. With a striking pretty face and great body proportions.
But she's also very quiet, barely exchanging any remarks with the blonde no matter how hard Chaeyoung tries. And that's why she can't help but to put Lisa on her shit list.
The woman is a lawyer.
Chaeyoung knows because she might have wittily googled and found Lisa's LinkedIn on the first search.
Graduated top of her class at Seoul National University, School of Law. That's huge. Not everyone in Chaeyoung's friend list is smart.
Lisa would simply be the first only if she accepts her extended hand of friendship. But everything Chaeyoung gives to her - From a simple home made dish to a keychain from her previous trip to Kyoto, Lisa has said nothing.
Just a standard thank you and that's it.
Sometimes, Chaeyoung thinks she just needs to let go and finds other people to pester. But just as the woman is about to accept her defeat, fate knows the right time to intervene.

"You never got me anything before,"
A very awkward comment to be honest and Chaeyoung regrets why on Earth would she pick up that one, honestly after weeks of not seeing Lisa.
The young lawyer instantly flushed and judging by her fish - like attitude: mouth gapes and shuts frequently; Chaeyoung knows she's nervous.
All thanks to Chaeyoung's awkward comment.
"I didn't mean to sound like that at all,"
Chaeyoung says to enlighten the mood. "I'm sorry,"
"No need," Lisa quietly replies. She fiddles with her fingers, head lowly hangs before she sucks air through her nose and steals a glance at Chaeyoung. "I hope you like it,"
Like it?
That would be a total understatement. Chaeyoung loves it! She likes the way the keychain feels in her hand. Not too big, not too small. Just the right size of bag charm that would burn Jennie's eyes in jealousy and Chaeyoung loves it already.
"It's sick. I like it very much," She confirms and Chaeyoung can see the tension has lifted off Lisa's shoulders. A brief smile appears and Chaeyoung's knees start to wobble.
Dammit.
"So," She digs her shoulder into the front door, eyes studying her neighbor. "What's the catch for this very thoughtful gift?"
"Umm...." Lisa seems unsure of her next sentence and Chaeyoung wants to tell her to chill the fuck out but she's scared she would only send Lisa away so chooses to wait instead.
Which is very hard because Chaeyoung wasn't born with the patience of a saint.
"My sister is getting engaged next week,"
She begins. Her sheepish tone is so easily detected. Chaeyoung wonders if she sounds the same inside the courtroom or there's simply another version of Lisa she hasn't seen.
"Really? Congratulations. Do you need my gift suggestion list?"
"No..."
"Do you need me to criticize your chosen outfit then?"
"My mum already picked a tux for me..."
"Always trust mum's taste"
Chaeyoung points out before realizing she's reaching the end of it.
"So, what do you want actually?"
The lawyer scratches her head. She looks a little jumpy and Chaeyoung isn't going to deny that. Jumpy but adorable.
"There's going to be relatives there..." The dread in the tone is nothing but noticeable.
"Of course. It's a family occasion, Lisa"
"Hence why I kind of can't go alone...."
The statement comes out and the blonde can't decide which one is better.
Passing away or passing out.
"But you can refuse it of course,"
Lisa hurries to say when Chaeyoung says nothing. "I mean, I understand you might be busy and ..."
"Lisa, Lisa, it's fine"
Chaeyoung mumbles hurriedly. She grabs the lawyer's arm to assure her. "I would love to be your date. Just tell me when and I'll be ready,"
A look of relief washes over Lisa's face.
"Thank you so much,"
She breathes out. "I brought you a card too, actually"
She passes a golden envelope and Chaeyoung can't help from devouring the information right away.
16th June 2024 which is a week from now.
"Okay," the blonde confirms. "I'm sure I can work with that. Do you have a certain theme or it's a black - tie event?"
"I'm sure it's just a regular engagement party," The lawyer licks her lower lip. "You can wear anything,"
"Okay," Chaeyoung nods her head. Then, waves the bag charm at Lisa once again. "Thank you for this though. I'm sure Jennie is going to be jealous,"
"My pleasure," another brief smile from Lisa before she excuses herself into her unit. Chaeyoung makes sure she gets a glimpse of Lisa's tidy, quiet living room before retreating into her own.
Her heart beats fast when it's just her and the bag charm.
