"I haven't had time off in forever,"
Chaeyoung cringes at the lie in it. But that's not the whole point. Her mother glances at her from where she's seated and shakes her head.
"I beg to differ," Her fingers dance furiously on the keyboard before her eyes are narrowed to the screen. "You've taken a total of 60 days leaves,"
"What? That much?" The blonde tugs her eyebrows. "Nope, I don't think that's true ..."
Her voice ends abruptly as her mother shows her the screen.
"Okay, but a few of those, I was sick. You can't expect your doctor to work when she's sick. And plus, I've doctor's note,"
"Which you signed yourself," Her mother sighs.
"Rosie, you do know you can't run away when things go wrong,"
The older woman launches her infamous nag and the blonde doctor can't help but to wince in existential pain. "Mom, but this one is important,"
She whines. "I've to go or I'm missing it big time,"
"Miss what exactly?" The woman pinches the bridge of her nose. "What's really more important than your career?"
"My love life," The blonde says desperately.
"You always argue about how your friends are having grandkids and I haven't met anyone just yet. So, I'm currently seeing this one person and she's asked me to be her date at her sister's engagement party. So, if I'm lucky and her mom likes me, we can have baby quickly and you can show off my mini me at your terrible friends,"
Clare sighs before folding her arms. "Who is this person anyway? Do I know her? Because I haven't seen you dating anyone since pre - historic Jisoo..."
Chaeyoung gags at the mention of her ex. They are best friends now.
"You don't have to mention it to me," She points out. "We lasted only for a day, by the way"
"But still, she's in my record," Clare shuts the pc. "So, who is this person?"
"Lisa" Chaeyoung says proudly, knowing full well that Clare approves of that lawyer since she met her 9 months ago. "Lisa as in Lisa the Attorney Manoban next door?"
Clare questions and her daughter nods. "No way," The woman says. "You're joking right?"
"About us dating? Yes. But about her asking me out to her sister's party? No"
"Chaeyoung..."
"Just give it time, mom. I'm sure she's going to like me. And when she does, we are going to have that baby,"
"Whatever," Clare rises from her chair. "Just make sure you don't do stupid things,"
"I won't" The blonde smiles widely. "So, does this mean I can go?"
