"I thought you wouldn't call,"
Jennie says. The woman is smirking as Chaeyoung climbs into bed and rests. "I didn't forget our pact," The doctor sighs. "So, what's the tea? Have you met her family? Are they a bunch of nice people or wild dogs?"
Chaeyoung winches at the latter option. She doesn't think Lisa's extended family is that bad. But they aren't nice either.
Most of them, Chaeyoung is positive, hates her. Although she doesn't know what prompts them to. Maybe, being seen with a certain Lisa Manoban is the cause but that can't be for real.
Besides, it's not like Lisa and her are dating. They are just being casual. Just Chaeyoung doing Lisa a favour as her plus one at the party.
More than that? Chaeyoung can only confirm for her side but not Lisa's. Yes, she likes the attorney. But does the attorney feel the same? Chaeyoung doesn't know.
"Hello? Earth to Roseanne,"
Jennie teases and the blonde inhales sharply. "I guess I have to reserve that particular comment until I'm back in Seoul, which are like 3 days from now,"
"Bummer," Jennie chews her gum. "But that's already," She blows a bubble but it pops immediately. "At least, tell me about the place. Is it nice?"
"The weather is nice," Chaeyoung stands up and shuffles to the window. "There's a mountain nearby so the air is always cold. And the sea breeze blows in the evening because we're also at the cove. It's weird, but I guess I like it already,"
"Sick," Jennie continues to chew. "So, what's the plan now? Are you going out with Lisa tonight and driving around?"
"I don't know," The statement plays. "I guess," She adds before ears perk up at the sound of someone knocking on the door. "There's someone at the door. I need to go get it. Are you going to hang up or you're going to wait?"
"Hang up," Jennie utters. "I've got something to do. Will text later"
"Okay," Chaeyoung bids farewell. "See you in three days"
"Yep,"
Chaeyoung tucks her phone into her bag, before twisting the knob and spots Lisa standing with a small smile. "Hey," The lawyer's signature sheepish tone echoes. "Hey," Chaeyoung replies.
"So, how do you like your room?" Lisa asks, her right arm dives into the doorframe. Then, her eyes scan past Chaeyoung's frame. "Is it okay? Or do you need something else? Blanket or pillows or room slippers?"
"Everything is perfect," Chaeyoung hurries to say. "Please don't overdo it,"
"I just want you to be safe and sound," Lisa says. Her tone thinning like a whisper before she pulls herself back together. Eyes recognizing the strawberry backpack resting against the footboard. "You're rooming with Bomi?" She asks, sceptical.
"I was told," I clear my throat. Then add, "But I haven't seen her yet or met her,"
"She's probably gone with Haein," Lisa runs her free hand through what seemingly looks like tousled black hair. "To the beach," She looks at the blonde. "Want to go and see what they're up to?"
"Sure," I nod my head and follow after her. It's just a short distance from their home to the beach, apparently. No wonder I can hear the sound of waves crashing nearby. "There they are," Lisa points at two figures standing near the water.
The first figure is tall and slender. Her silhouette in the sunset glows. The next one belongs to a plumpy child. Their hands intertwine as they watch over something, before synchronously tilt their heads over their shoulders as Lisa greets them.
"Long time no see, Haein"
"Hey, Lisa. You're here ... with a girlfriend?"
"Ani..."
Even in the sunset, Chaeyoung can make up for Lisa's flushed face. "She's just a friend. My plus one to Lili's party,"
"I see," Jae turns to face Chaeyoung. One hand is extended along with a small smile.
"I'm Haein Kim, CEO of Kim Technologies, Member of Kim Royal Family. It's nice to meet you, Ms...."
Her narrowed eyes scan Chaeyoung's eyes briefly. "It's Park," Lisa completes it for her. "Chaeyoung Park,"
"Ah, Chaeyoung Park sshi," Haein inhales. "That's a pretty name," She comments before playfully wiggling her eyebrows at Lisa. "You've landed on a pretty gem, Lisa - yah,"
"It's nice to see you too," Chaeyoung replies after a momentary silence. Then, Haein signals to her daughter. "Before I forget, this is my youngest daughter, Bomi"
Chaeyoung waves at her but the girl ignores her completely. Then, she detaches herself from her mom's side and takes the lead.
"I'm going to see mommy," She says along with her next step. "That's my cue to leave," Haein says to both of them. She follows after her daughter. "I don't think that one likes me,"
Chaeyoung comments quietly. "But I like you," Lisa says. Her hand holds Chaeyoung firmly. "Come on," She drags the stunned blonde with her. "Let's go home, Chaeng"
