"Good morning, good morning,"
I say as I walk,
and hear them all talk,
and yet I'm not turning

to hear all their voices,
laced with disgust
and anger and just
as I sit down, they stop.

Ignoring the glares,
and the looks
and the stares
that the crowd in here shares,
I'm keeping my smile.

I turn to the counter
and then I speak up,
and no one can stop
me from ordering now.

"A large cup of confidence,
that's what I'd like.
But neither too dark,
and neither too light.

Would you mind adding
some happiness too?
My favorite part,
that really is true.

Sweetened with bravery,
that's what I order.
As much as I need
for crossing some border.

And please don't forget
'bout what I need the most -
a small pinch of strength,
no matter the cost.

Lastly, I want to be
positive now.
An optimist, really,
with two eyes that glow.

Glow in the daylight,
and glow in the dark,
in case hope is lost,
there'll still be a spark.

Oh yes,
that is what I truly wish for.

A big cup of confidence,
please help me through
this day
and this night,
you know that I need you.

And when the sun rises,
rises again,
and when he returns,
returns somewhen,

that horrible sorrow,
it leaves me to say:

thanks for the service
and see you tomorrow."
