Peter winced as he fell on his already cracked (broken) ribs. But he knew that he needed to open the barn door protocol, and he needed most of the Avengers on the main floor…. So he got up and started to limp- run towards the staircase. But the kicks he had initiated were weak, and Bucky had recovered quite nicely. Bucky ran towards him and grabbed him by his hair and started to drag him towards the staircase himself. It didn't make any sense! Why on earth would he be taking him upstairs?
Unbeknownst to him, his questions were going to be answered in a few minutes..

Peter’s eyes snapped open, as he ‘Literally’ felt his ribs move around. It was a sickening feeling. He had passed out on the first few steps, the pain everywhere being more unbearable after getting the corners of the stairs jostle his ribs even more. Breathing was getting more and more hard for him. His hands tried reaching his head where his hair were being ripped out of his scalp. He knew that his senses were getting more and more highlighted by the very second. He could feel every drop of his blood hitting the floor. The beads of sweat covering his body, the shivers which were rocking his body, every single of his broken bones hustling here and there. That was the most painful one, feeling his crushed bones moving around, he even felt some of them tearing through his muscles. Tears now coming uncontrollably. He wanted to scream, cry and rest at the same time. He really needed a big sleep right now. He didn't know how long he would be able to hold it any longer.
He could feel solid plane ground beneath him now which was reassuring. He then dared to look around the place. He was in the common room again. The broken shards of the previously shattered glass wall were now impaling him. It felt like the little ants were pinching his skin. He kind of liked the feeling. At that moment, he felt a strong stomping coming his way. It was Steve fucking Rogers. America’s pride, The Captain America was walking towards him with an expression he was damn sure only the worst of his enemies had seen. It was a look which was very very blank but radiated so much hate. The look sent a shiver down his spine, he was distinctly aware that he had started to shiver far violently as he neared him. Bucky had released his hair and was now crouching beside Peter, wrapping his hands around through his armpits and shoulders, inevitably locking him. Peter let out a strained cry of pain as his injured shoulder was put to test. Once again. Just then he felt a vibration run through his arm with the watch. He looked over and saw that it was blinking. Bruce was here with the cure.
The relief which shot through him was short lived as Steve had reached him. A punch was thrown on his stomach. His screams now coming in silent. Steve relentlessly punched him through his torso, sometimes to the stomach, to his ribs (which were now definitely crushed), to his sides. He had blacked out many times by this point, but whenever he did, Steve used to throw a slap or punch on his face.
Pain was something which wasn't concerning Peter in any manner now. Most of it was so much that it was blinding, making him feel nothing. He was aware of each punch. He could once again feel his ribs. Only this time, he could feel the breaking even more. And them impaling him. He was getting more light headed by the passing second. Dizziness flowing through his mind, distinctly making him aware of his surroundings. He didn’t care about what happened at this point. His shoulders were gone sore, his legs and head numb. His breathing was now slowing down at an alarming rate. The blood loss was now catching up to him.
He knew that he was supposed to override the barn door protocol. As even if the antidote would be given from the vents, they needed to retrieve their bodies. At this point only these thoughts were keeping him alive. Saving his family being the only thread which was holding him to his life. Was making him endure all this. Confusion took over him as he felt Bucky’s arms leave him.
Steve picked Peter up and threw him across the room. The blood from his various wounds splattered like modern art as he collided with the wall. Peter’s vision was cloudy, he wasn't able to look anywhere properly. He had gone limp now, even being unable to move his hands towards his watch. He could make out the rough figure of Bucky coming towards him. A groan left his mouth as he was lifted once again and thrown towards the wall adjacent to the once glass wall. The paint called blood splashed across the walls and floor. Peter felt something sharp impale him in the back and it was really surprising how he was alive at this point.
He could feel himself slipping away…. His breaths coming in labored. His whole body was on fire. He could feel his heart wearing down now with all the trauma and blood loss. His eyes were dry now, all of their moisture gone. If he could have, he would have cried now. He had disappointed them. He was a failure, not even being able to override a simple protocol. He hadn’t felt this helpless since the Vulture and Thanos. He still got nightmares from the ordeals. He had finally asked MJ out last week and it had been a bliss. Everything was now finally falling in their place. But his Parker luck couldn’t take a break right?
The flashes of his teammates' faces came in front of his eyes. He was disappointing all of them. Not only them, but he was also disappointing MJ, Ned, Pepper and even Tony’s and Pepper’s unborn Baby. He needed to get them out now, at least for their future, a future which he most likely won't be a part of. The burning fire of responsibility and sacrifice was run down to a flicker now. But the flicker of fire was still there. He was spider man, he could do this! And more than that he was a friend, bestfriend, boyfriend, ally, son, nephew and an avenger. He will fulfil his last ever duty. He will stay true to his Uncle Ben’s last words.
He raised his good hand towards his watch, he could see Bucky and Steve coming towards him from his periphery. He touched the cool surface of the watch. It was still blinking green. His shaking fingers finally able to press the side button three times. A loud Bang sound came and the metal doors started to part. His eyes gazed at the NY sunset. It felt nice, passing away during the Twilight. While his eyes were staring at the playful but peaceful game of hues. He was proud that he was able to fulfil the last of his duties.
He was taking his last breaths now. His vision and brain went blank as his last thoughts were filled with his family, the feel of their hugs and love, Ned’s bear hugs, MJ’s lip’s feel on his, her smile…… In the end it was worth it, for him.
