“That little piece of shit… still kept calling us ‘uncle’” He chuckled, but it was hollow. It was a joke, a really old one. Tony still remembered that day clearly. He had accidentally denoted Rhodey as ‘uncle’ which had both amused and irritated him. And when the spiderling found out that all the avengers weren't fond of the titles… . . He had never stopped calling them with different titles. Except for battles. At that time he always got serious.
At first it irritated the Avengers, that is, the formal titles, but now, at this moment, they would do anything to be called by those silly names again.

Steve and Natasha quietly navigated their way through the roads. It wasn't hard actually, they have been here once regarding some SHIELD business. They were there to burst an illegal child trafficking ring at that time. While now, they were here to find about that HYDRA facility.
The incident with Peter had left the entire team in shambles. While it wasn't new to them to lose people either physically or mentally when it came to their world, it was still devastating. And the fact that someone possessed the power which could make them lose control like this was upsetting. What happened to Peter could have happened to anyone… And just… they really couldn't just catch a break now, can they. First all the missions, then Thanos, now this weird mind controlling maniac.
There had been similar instances around this area, not as intense as their's, still…. People had gone missing and returned without any memories or just snippets which were of no help. Whoever was behind all this had full proof tested it.
They had been searching around for the bunker throughout the day, and now were heading towards the place they were staying. Steve's hand was around her waist, she had had a nasty fall while climbing down a wall. She had been distracted, which wasn't common, but her brain had been a bit ‘on edge’ since the Peter incident. He had been close to her.
His hold on her waist was warm, steady, comforting even, it felt nice to feel these things again. Her nerves have been feeling a bit cold for the past week (again, since the incident). The antidote worked and the antibodies were now doing their jobs. They even had a weird spell put on them by Wanda as a precautionary measure.
Her head was going places. Guilt and sorry burrowing their way through her consciousness. And Steve's condition was no different, in fact it was far stronger, the guilt, the remorse… after all, he had done quite a bit of damage to the teenager. The young man's screams rang in his ear whenever he closed his eyes, whenever he concentrated, whenever he breathed.
Nat subconsciously leaned towards Steve. His free hand in turn coming towards her hands and holding them. They both were close, far closer than any friends may get. They both were the leaders, the ones who were supposed to keep it together, to console and manage. Yet in the end they were human… they too needed someone in their corner. Yes, they did have a team, their family, but they needed a person who knew what it felt like, who would be there for them unconditionally. But they didn't have to search far. They had each other.
_In the compound_
Michelle sat beside Peter, holding his hand (the one which was holdable). The last few weeks had been a living nightmare for her. Peter's condition wasn't improving much, his healing factor trying desperately to heal his heart and brain first (as the doctors were speculating). She was in the compound almost every single day at this point. Her parents knew what was happening and they had solemnly given her the permission to stay in the tower. They weren't that sad that their daughter was living far away from them, as they did visit her during the weekends and regularly used to call her. They were sad for what happened to their favourite vigilante.
When Michelle had first told them about Peter and his night activities they didn't know whether to be proud or concerned about both the teenagers. Yet, they had supported them and had fallen in love with the boy. It was hard not to. So, when they came to know about this entire ordeal, they were grief stricken. They had started to think of that boy as their own in the past one to one and a half year. It was hard for them to see the boy in such condition. And the fact that they had to console their daughter to keep her going at least once a day, to hear her crying from the phone Or holding her as she let it out during the weekend.
It had been two weeks since the incident. He was shifted to the compound a week and half before. Once in the compound, Dr. Strange had paid the young hero a visit to do the more complex spinal, heart and brain surgeries. Dr. Cho and Dr. Banner were qualified enough for them, but their hands weren't able to stay still when they worked on the boy. They had patched him enough to stay alive on the first day, but had let Strange take the reins after that.
She stared at her boyfriend. Before she met him, she had been quite a reserved kid. She came from a really stable and living background. Her dad was a literature historian while her mother a art restoration expert. Her father was one of the, if not, the best person in his field of expertise and her mother was also pretty good. All this laid the foundation of her interests in art and literature, and she was happy with her and her brain.
Then this idiot of a boy had entered her life with that smart demeanour and caring nature. That had been a big turning point in her life, as now, that idiot was her boyfriend, who was also a superhero, who also happened to have no self preservation skills.
She smiled softly as she creased her thumb over his palm. It was difficult for her to look at him in such a state. A tube coming from his mouth, tens of wires attached to his body. His amputated leg stump in a bandage. His hair shaved down to assess the head injuries properly. Now, a long scar ran through the side of his head.
They said that he was still able to listen to them in his coma, so she never wasted a second when telling him how much she loved him. Ned used to rant about different nerdy things. She used to read him Harry Potter chapter by chapter everyday. The avengers taking turns in telling him different stories from their lives. It was good that their summer holidays were going on, or they most likely wouldn't have been able to stay by him this much.
She was brought out of her thoughts when a jolt ran through Peter and he started to shake. It was a seizure. She got up so quickly that her chair landed behind her with a thud. She quickly pressed the distress button as she felt Ned appearing beside her and holding her in a one shoulder hug. She then felt him steering her away from Peter as the nurses rushed in. He holded her until the seizure stopped and the head nurse looked at them.
“He had quite a long seizure, we are thinking that it might have something to do with his head injury… we are taking him for an MRI scan.”
She just managed to nod and sat on the sofa which was provided in the room. She watched in a haze as Tony came in seconds after to sign the permission papers. She watched as they prepared him. She felt helpless. It was like the fates were trying to take him away from her. Ned's hands on her shoulders were the only things which were grounding her. This was going to be a long road… .

Please comment your thoughts about this story and if you have any request.
Just a question, do you guys want the villian's arc to be big or small?
I know that we haven't gotten any insight on Tony's character. Don't worry, out Petey isn't going to be awaken for more 1-2 weeks, so everyone is going to get a chance.
Don't forget to comment, as it keep me motivated!!
Have a good day :)
