"Tell him to go out of here."
~
Jungkook felt his heart drop at Taehyung's words. The coldness in Taehyung’s voice, the way he's still refusing to talk to him, it was too much.
Panic surged through him, and before he could think, he rushed forward, grabbing Taehyung’s hands, his fingers trembling as they wrapped around Taehyung’s.
“Taehyung, please,” Jungkook’s voice cracked, tears already welling in his eyes. His grip tightened as he held on, his heart pounding painfully in his chest. “Please listen to me,” he begged, his voice breaking as the tears began to fall. “I’ll fight for you, I’ll fight for us. I won’t leave you, I promise.”
His words came out in a desperate rush, his tears streaming freely now. He couldn’t hold back anymore, the fear of losing Taehyung overwhelming him. He didn’t care about anything else, he just wanted Taehyung to understand how much he meant to him.
Jungkook’s chest heaved with emotion, his voice shaky, as he looked up into Taehyung’s tired eyes, hoping for even the smallest sign of hope.
Taehyung stood frozen, his hands still in Jungkook’s, his gaze locked on the younger boy’s tear-streaked face. Seeing Jungkook like this so broken, so raw hurt him deeply. His heart ached as he watched the boy crying in front of him, the sincerity in Jungkook’s words cutting through him like a knife.
Deep down, Taehyung knew how he felt about Jungkook. He had fallen for him, too. But the fear of what the world would think, what society would say, weighed heavily on him. That fear kept him locked inside himself, too scared to let his feelings show. He didn’t want to hurt Jungkook, but he was terrified of the consequences of being with him.
Despite the pain in his chest, Taehyung kept his expression hard, his resolve unwavering. He had made up his mind. Even though seeing Jungkook in this state tore him apart inside, he couldn’t allow himself to accept what he truly wanted.
Jungkook, struggling to compose himself, quickly wiped his tears with one hand, the other still tightly holding onto Taehyung’s. His voice was shaky but tender as he tried to change the conversation, knowing how fragile this moment was.
“Let’s not talk about this now,” Jungkook murmured, his eyes filled with concern as he glanced at Taehyung. He hesitated for a moment before continuing, his voice trembling slightly.
“I heard about your… your mother,” he stammered. “That she p-passed away.”
Taehyung’s face remained unreadable, his lips pressed into a thin line, but his eyes darkened with the weight of the loss, though he still didn’t say a word. Jungkook could feel the tension, the silent pain Taehyung was carrying, and it made his heart ache even more.
“I know you don’t want me by your side,” Jungkook said softly, his voice almost a whisper now. “But I want to be. I really do. Especially now, when you’re all alone like this.” His eyes searched Taehyung’s for any sign of emotion, hoping that something in his words would reach him.
Jungkook’s grip on Taehyung’s hand tightened slightly, as if he could somehow convey through touch what he couldn’t fully express in words.
Taehyung turned his gaze toward Jimin, who stood beside Yoongi, watching the scene unfold. Jimin caught Taehyung’s eyes and nodded pleadingly, silently urging him to allow Jungkook to stay.
After a long pause, Taehyung sighed deeply and muttered, “Come in.”
Jungkook blinked in surprise, his heart skipping a beat. He hadn’t expected Taehyung to let him stay. But before he could say anything, Taehyung gently pulled his hands free from Jungkook’s grip and turned, walking quietly into the house. Jimin and Yoongi exchanged a brief look before following him, with Jungkook hesitating for only a moment before trailing behind them.
