Chapter 8 - You Failed!!

"I guess that means you lose." Asuma says with a shrug. He then dispels his clone, causing it to puff up in smoke. "Man you really did a number on my clone."

"W-what do you mean we lose?" Ino stutters out.

"Well..." Asuma sighs out. "You guys didn't get the information in the given 2 hours.... Therefore, as I said at the start, if no one gets the intel, you all fail."

"H-huh" Shika says while standing up. "B-but I thought the true meaning of the test was teamwork. We worked together, s-so surely we pass anyway."

"Hmmm..." Asuma strokes his chin while pretending to think. "But that goes against my word."

In the middle of the village, the Hokage and Iruka sit eating lunch together, Iruka had just asked the Hokage about Team 7's sensei, which led to the Hokage showing Iruka that Kakashi had never passed any one before.

"So...." Hiruzen says, hoping to get Iruka out of his shock. "Is there any other teams sensei's you want to ask about."

"H-huh, O-oh right." Iruka clears his throat. "What about Kama and the rest of Team 10."

"Ah, Of course." The Hokage took a drag of his pipe before continuing. "Their sensei is Sarutobi Asuma.... My son."

"Huh?!" Iruka reacted in shock.

"We had a disagreement about 7 years ago and he left Konoha for awhile but when he returned a few years after he decided he wanted to be a Jonin sensei, ever since then he's led quite a few teams." The Hokage sighed. "Team 10 is in good hands."

"W-wait but weren't they meant to be this generations Ino-Shika-Cho team." Iruka asks. "Won't that be bad for the team composition."

"Ah, yes... Unfortunately this generations Cho, being Choza's son Choji is a year too young, his family also doesn't want him to graduate early." Hiruzen takes another puff of his pipe. "However, I don't think this replacement is bad... In fact, Kama may come to work better for the team than Choji would have."

"H-huh." Iruka is shocked by the statement. "Why do you think that?"

"Because... Kama has power never seen before, and he has the flexibility and smarts to fit the role needed of him." Hiruzen then chuckles at a memory. "He's also got the ability to influence those around him to do much better.... And I think that team needs it."

Iruka sweat drops as he watches the Hokage reminisce. "You know Kama quite well."

"I had quite a few interactions with him when he was a child.... I also saw what happened to those near him."

Back in Training Ground 10, Asuma rubs his chin as he looks at his three students, Ino and Shikamaru in a panic while Kama just sits on the ground, staring at the floor, blood still dripping from his head. 'These kids really did better than I thought they would.... Kama alone almost beat my shadow clone on multiple occasions.... He really is going to do well on this team.... He even got the slacker to do something, even though he was no where near.'

"Damn it" Kama mutters, wipes off the blood over his eye before looking up and glaring at Asuma. "We can't go back now.... Fight us."

"Huh" this shocks Asuma into silence. Kama then stands up and stares with determination.

"Fight us." Kama repeats, Ino and Shikamaru both getting determined looks on their faces hearing this as they stand behind him. "You versus us three.... All out, no preparation time.... We win, you don't send us back.... You win, we give up."

Asuma hand drops from his chin as he watches the determined 12 year olds all standing in front of him. 'This brat.... He really is made to be a leader.... I guess I should stop playing around now....' Asuma then pulls out a new cigarette and lights it, he takes a puff before chuckling as he shakes his head. "Alright, you got me.... Well done, you all pass."

"HUH!" Ino yells in shock, Shika and Kama both were wide eyed at Asuma.

"Heh.... You all really think I was going to fail you after you worked so well together.... I was planning on passing you as soon as you all stopped to talk about strategy.... The test itself after teamwork was only for me to gauge your abilities and so I can see what I need to focus on in training." Asuma taps his cigarette in order to get off some ash before resting it between his lips. "So well done, all of you, you did very well, and congrats on officially becoming team 10."

"...." They all stand still, completely dumbfounded before Ino is the first to snap out of it. "YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!"

This then snaps Shika and Kama out as they both start laughing in relief. "Hahahahahaha.. hahah... ha.... Thank god we... haha..... didn't have to fight you.... Heh.... We were so screwed." Kama says between laughs.

After a while of calming down, Team Asuma now walk out of training ground 10. "I'm hungry." Asuma says while rubbing his growling stomach. "Let's go to Yakiniku Q."

"Heh.... You actually have to pay for us now, Lazy Sensei." Kama says with a smirk. "I plan on ordering a lot."

"Hehe, brat, you really are disrespectful." Asuma says, looking at Kama out the corner of his eye.

"You three are all so troublesome." Shika mutters, slouching as he walks.

"HEY! We just fought a really hard test!!! Let us be troublesome!!" Ino yells while hitting Shika over the head. Hearing Shika's mutters of displeasure after being hit causes Kama to start laughing out loud. Kama's laughing causes Ino to blush and smile at him, while Shika has a small smile.

Asuma turns around to look at his new team, a smile spreading across his face. 'The brat, the slacker and the loudmouth.... What have I gotten myself into this time.... Meh I don't mind'

1002 words.

I don't like how my chapters are getting shorter but each time they do it's because I write the end and realise anything more would just feel wrong.

Like I can picture this last scene of Asuma looking at team 10 with a smile on his face and it just seems like the perfect end for anything.

Anyway, hope you all enjoyed this one, I'm finally done with the team 10 Genin test.

Next will be starting missions and training. It's going to go a lot different to how Kakashi trains team 7, like they're actually going to be trained before they go on an out of village mission.
