It's been a pretty rough several months with Morgan.
He's been touring almost non stop but when he isn't touring, he's in the studio or out with friends or management and you haven't seen him in practically twelve months.
Tonight is an award show and you're his date- hopefully, at least.
He had mentioned it in passing so you assumed that was your invite. You bought a nice dress for it so hopefully you're still going.
"Hey." Morgan shouts from the bottom of the stairs. "You ready?"
Good thing you kept up with the details tonight because you're stepping into the heels you bought.
"Yeah. Be right down!" You take one last look at your reflection and smile. You haven't felt this good in a year.
Morgan barely looks at you while he types away on his phone, muttering, "The car is here." He grabs his hat and is out the door, leaving you to follow behind.
The driver had opened your door for you, not your husband.
"You excited?" You ask when you buckle up.
"Eh." He replies. "Excited for the open bar."
You suppress a sigh. "Same." You just hope that Caleigh, Michael Hardy's wife is there tonight so you'll have her to talk to.
"We're here." The driver says, pulling off to the side. He gets out and opens the door for you again which you thank him for. He smiles warmly back. "Have a good night."
Morgan slides a hand to the small of your back and guides you to the back of the line for the carpet they rolled out.
"(Y/N)." His voice catches your attention. "I'm sorry for how I've been for the past year." You lock eyes with him and hide a mean scowl. "I've been so jam packed busy with nothing but work and that is not okay. After tonight, pack a bag. I booked a two week trip to the Virgin Islands as an apology and a thank you for sticking by my side."
He's sincere, you know him like the back of your hand, all his tells, when he lies, everything.
Your face splits into a smile and you can see his shoulders drop with relief. "That sounds wonderful, babe. Thank you for apologizing, I just wish we talked about it sooner."
"I know. That was wrong of me." He looks down at his boots. "I know it's gonna take some time to make it up to you but baby, I'm gonna."
You laugh, leaning into him. "Thank you."
"I love you." He grins, kissing your temple sweetly.
You two are waved onto the carpet. Knowing Morgan is aware of what he did and is now trying to make it up to you by basically disappearing from Nashville just to be there, your smiles are real.
You cannot wait to have one on one time with him again.
