The Beginning Of The End

The setup is nearly complete-almost. The missing piece? The bee system. It's still unresponsive, and I'm running out of time.

It's been five days since I walked out of the zombie lab, and while I've made every possible arrangement, uncertainty still lingers like a storm cloud on the horizon. The company is poised to collapse, and I intend to be long gone before anyone connects me to it. But there's no room for mistakes now-not with everything riding on this.

My mission is a dangerous gamble: smuggling the zombie virus out of the lab and ensuring its total destruction. I did consider the obvious option-reporting the company for creating a bioweapon. But then I thought of Wilde.

If the authorities expose Wilde as the mastermind behind the virus, he might face temporary setbacks. But Wilde isn't the kind of man to stay down. He's relentless, the type to rise again, more dangerous and determined than before. And if I'm still around when that happens? I don't want to imagine the consequences.

The only way to ensure he doesn't come back stronger is to eliminate the virus entirely and dismantle the company in a way that looks like its own corruption brought it down. I've even gone to great lengths to shield Wilde from the fallout-the company is registered under false names, keeping him legally untouchable. When everything falls apart, he'll walk away unscathed, never knowing I was the one behind it all.

The lab, however, is an impenetrable fortress. Every sample is meticulously logged, every action monitored. Destroying the virus on-site isn't just impractical-it's impossible.

That's where my hired team of rogue scientists comes in. They have the tools and expertise to neutralize the virus, but getting it to them requires someone on the inside. That's where Xavier enters the picture.

I found Xavier almost by chance. He's a lab assistant, an unassuming figure in the company's vast operation. On paper, he's just another employee-a young man from a small town, trying to build a future in the city. In reality, he's trapped in a nightmare of manipulation and coercion.

The source of his misery? Mia. She's the spoiled and vindictive daughter of the company's Head of Operations. When she decided she wanted Xavier, nothing else mattered-not even the fact that he already had a girlfriend back home. Mia engineered his transfer to the virus lab, blackmailed him into breaking up with his girlfriend, and left him dangling on the edge of ruin. His career, his family, his future-all of it under her control.

By the time I approached him, Xavier was desperate. He was a man with nothing left to lose, willing to grasp at any opportunity to escape. I offered him exactly that: money to secure his family's future, protection for the girlfriend Mia forced him to abandon, and a way out of his nightmare.

He didn't hesitate. Xavier became my critical player, the linchpin of my plan.

And yet, there's a weight to what I'm asking of him. He's risking everything-his safety, his career, and his life.

I can only hope that when Wilde inevitably puts the pieces together, he'll care enough about me to let me walk away. It's a slim hope, but it's all I've got.

The clock is ticking, and the stakes are higher than ever. Failure isn't an option-not when the consequences could spiral out of control.
