(Percy's pov)

After I beat Ares and he left the bolt and helm, we gave the helm to Ms. Dodds and she returned to the underworld. We made our way back to the DOA recording studio and picked up Gladiola who was looking around for Y/n. Grover broke the news to the poor little pup, I don't know what he said to Grover but all me and Annabeth heard were whimpers. Annabeth was silent the entire time, I honestly don't blame her. Sure Y/n was my best friend, but she arguably knew him longer and developed a crush on him.

I just... I just can't believe he's gone...I lost my best friend again. Again I don't even know if he's alive. I want to believe he is but not dead but the only known demigod to survive Tartarus was Hercules. I just have to have faith, if anyone could survive down there it would be that dumbass. But anyways...

I find it funny how people can try to understand things and believe it in their own version of reality. Chiron tried telling me that before, and of course I didn't believe it until now.

According to the LA news, all of the explosions that happened at the Santa Monica beach was caused by a deranged kidnapper who fired a shotgun at a police car. He managed to hit gas that was pouring out of the vehicle caused by an earthquake. How does any of that make sense? Don't ask me.

Anyways the deranged kidnapper, which was just Ares, was the same guy who kidnapped me and three other kids in New York and brought us across the country on a 10 day odyssey of nightmares.

Poor little ole Percy Jackson wasn't an international criminal at all. He caused a commotion on that bus in New Jersey trying to get away from that lunatic. The same lunatic caused the explosion on the St. Louis Arch, after all no kids could have done that. A waitress in Denver saw the man threatening his abductees outside of the diner. One of the witnesses even had a video of the man body slamming one of the kids.

I absolutely NEED that video, if by some miracle Y/n did survive it would give everyone something to laugh at.

Finally, brave little Percy Jackson had stolen a gun and had a shoot out with his captor. Police arrived on the scene but in the process, 5 police cars were blown up. The captor had fled but the kids were saved... well all but one. Police asked us where y/n was and we told them he managed to get away. They bought it of course but it hurt still...

The reporters fed us this entire story, and we just nodded and pretended to be sad and played victimized kids for the camera (which in all honesty we were so it wasn't difficult).

I made a sob story of how I missed my stepfather so much and how he would love to repay every single person in this beautiful city. How all we wanted was three plane tickets to New York, everyone was so touched by this they passed around a hat which had my stepfathers number in it and gathered money for us to be on the next plane to New York. I know I am technically not supposed to fly but I pray that Zeus will cut me a little bit of slack considering the circumstances. But I still had to board the flight.

Takeoff was a nightmare, every spot of turbulence was scarier than any Greek monster we encountered. My hands stayed clenched in the armrests until we touched down safely at the airport. The press was already waiting for us but Annabeth managed to lure them away, tricking them by saying we were over in a different spot. They seemed to buy it and she rejoined us at the baggage claim.

When we got to the taxi stand I told both Annabeth and Grover to take Gladiola and go back to camp. I still can't believe that dog wanted to stay with us but I know how much Y/n loved it, I guess the Gladiola liked Y/n just as much. Of course they tried to argue, especially Annabeth but then I saw Y/n's guitar case slung around her shoulder. What I was about to say may cause her to gut me but it was the only thing I could think of.
