Over the next few weeks, they fell into a comfortable rhythm. After they hung out at the café, there was an unspoken understanding that their connection was special. Neither of them had looking anything serious, but life, sometimes unpredictable, had other plans for them. They became close to each other more and more, deepening their bond in ways that felt effortless.

5:30 pm, it is almost night in Thursday that SJ had texted Karina.

"I know it's short notice, but I found this spot by the river. The light is perfect for photos right now. Want to join?"

Karina had been lounging on her couch, contemplating to start a new painting, but SJ's message intrigued her. The invitation from him is impossible for her to resist. So, without hesitation, she replied.

"Count me in, meet you there in 20 minutes."

SJ was already standing at the perfect location, a quiet stretch of the riverbank lined with tall glass and trees that swayed gently in the evening breeze. As Karina arrived, she spotted him in his element, his camera slung around his neck, eyes focused on the horizon as the sun dipped low. It was the kind of scene that could be mistaken for painting, and Karina couldn't help but to admire the way SJ was able to capture the beauty in something so simple.

"Hey!" Karina called out as she approached him, her excitement shows.

SJ turned and smiled, the setting sun reflecting in his eyes. "Hi, glad you made it before the sun set." SJ widened his arms for a hug. Karina hugged him back. "Look at this, it's perfect for evening shots." SJ said.

Karina stepped beside him, her eyes following the direction of his gaze. "You were right, it's beautiful out there."

As SJ started taking photos, she observed him, fascinated by how he worked. He moved with minimum precision, adjusting his angle and lens with the focus of someone who knew exactly what they wanted to capture. It was an art form itself, a mixed between timing, light and instinct. Karina found it beautiful like every art she paint.

After a few moments, SJ glanced over at her, their eyes met. "You paint something like this, don't you? The soft light, the feeling of peace. You don't need a camera for that."

Karina grinned. "True, but I think what you do is just as beautiful. You freeze these moments in time, while I try to recreate them from my memory. There's something magical about both."

They stood in companionable silence for a while, watching as the sun continued to descent. SJ took a few more photos before lowering his camera, turning to Karina with a thoughtful expressions. "You know, I've been thinking. Would you consider collaborating? I mean, merging our two art forms, my photography and your painting."

Karina looked at him, surprised but intrigued by the idea. "A collaboration? Hmm, that could be... interesting. What'd you have in mind?"

SJ shrugged, his eyes overflows with excitement. "We could start small, I could photograph some of you work, or you could create a painting inspired by one of my photos. Something that let us blend our styles, see where our visions overlap."

Karina felt an excitement at his thought. She had never collaborated with another fellow artist before, especially someone with different work, but something about working with SJ felt right. He understood her creative process in a way that others didn't, and the idea of their two worlds collaborating feels exciting.

"I like that." she said, her voice soft. "Let's do it."

Their next few dates followed naturally, each one more comfortable than the last. They have been to new places, an art gallery one weekend, a street fair the next. Each time they been together, there's a new intimacy, a growing sense of trust and comfort. SJ wasn't just someone Karina enjoyed spending time with, he was quickly becoming someone she could confide in, someone who understood her on a deeper level than most.

On their date, they wandered through botanical garden. It was SJ's idea, knowing how much Karina loved nature and the vibrant colors of flowers in bloom. The garden was an oasis of calm, filled with curve paths lined with blooming roses, lilies and orchids. They walked hand in hand, occasionally stopping so SJ could take some photos of a particularly beautiful flower or taking some picture of Karina when she's admiring the flowers around her.

At one point, SJ paused, lowering his camera. He turned to Karina, his expression serious.

"You know, I've been thinking a lot about us." he said, his voice soft.

Karina's heart fluttered, her eyes meeting his. "What do you mean?"

SJ looked up and down, as if gathering his thoughts. "I wasn't expecting this. I didn't I'd meet someone who gets me, who I can talk to and bond like this. It feels... easy. Like we've been known to each other for so long."

Karina's lips curled into a small smile. "I feel the same way. It's unusual how quickly we clicked, even though we worked in different mediums, but it also feels... right."

SJ reached for her hand, his touch warm and reassuring. "Yeah, it does. I just wanted to say that because I know how rare it is to find this kind of connection."

Karina squeezed his hand gently, her heart swelling with affection. "I'm glad you said that. I've been feeling the same."

They continued walking, the conversation shifted back to light-hearted topics, but the moment lingered between them. It was the first time they both acknowledged just how important their connection was and it continues to deepen the bond they were already building.

On their next date, SJ surprised Karina by taking her to pottery class. He had remembered a passing comment she had made about wanting to try something new, and being a thoughtful person he was, he found a local artist offering pottery lessons and signed them up.

Karina had never worked with clay before, and it quickly became apparent that she wasn't a natural. Her first attempt at shaping a vase ended in a lopsided mess, but SJ, with his patient and steady hands, guided her through the process. Together, they created something that somewhat resembled a bowl, though they both knew it wasn't winning any awards for craftmanship.

They spent the afternoon laughing, teasing each other over their lack of pottery skills, and enjoying the simple pleasure of creating something together. By the end of the class, they were both covered in clay, but neither of them cared. It was one of those perfect, carefree afternoons where nothing mattered but the joy of spending time together.

After they got in Karina's studio, they sat on the balcony, watching the sunset, Karina felt a wave of gratitude washing over her. She hadn't expected to meet someone like SJ, someone who was not only creative kindred guy but also kind, thoughtful and attentive. He paid attention to little things, like her offhand remarks about wanting to try pottery, and he made her feel seen in a way that no one had before.

"I had fun today." she said, leaning her head on his shoulder as they watched the sun slowly disappearing.

"Me too." SJ replied, his arms wrapping around her shoulders. "It's not every day you get to make a lopsided bowl with someone you care about."

Karina laughed, tilting her head to look up at him. "It's true. We make a pretty good team, don't we?"

SJ looked down at her eyes. "We do."

In that moment, Karina knew that what they had was something special. It wasn't just about shared interests or attraction, it was something deeper, something that was growing stronger with each day passed. They are not dating, yet, they were building a foundation, a connection based on trust, understanding and a shared passion for art and life.

As they sat together, Karina felt an overwhelming sense of peace being around him. For the first time in a long time, she felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be, right there, with SJ, on this journey they were creating together.
