I sat in the solitude of my chamber, my mind racing with a mixture of frustration and worry. Three weeks had passed since Yuvraj had sworn he'd come find me. But he had yet to show his face.
I tried to convince myself that there was a good reason for his absence. Maybe he was busy with work, or perhaps there were unexpected complications that delayed him. But deep down, I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that something was amiss.
I sat alone in my room, feeling a strange emptiness in my chest. This was my childhood home, surrounded by familiar walls and memories. But somehow, it all felt cold and unfamiliar without Yuvraj by my side.
His absence was like a gaping hole in my heart, a constant ache that no amount of comfort or familiarity could fill. I had never realized how much I had come to rely on his presence, his strength and his love.
He's my home now.
I looked up from my thoughts to see my mother standing in the doorway, a worried expression etched onto her face. "You need to eat something, beta," she said gently, her voice laced with worry. "You've barely touched food these past three weeks."
I knew she was right. I had been too caught up in my thoughts, neglecting my own health and well-being. But the thought of food held little appeal. My appetite had deserted me, along with all sense of joy or contentment.
I forced a smile for my mother's sake, not wanting to worry her further. "I'll eat something later, Maa-sa," I said, trying to sound nonchalant.
But my mother was smart. She could see through my facade, the way she always could. She walked over to me, taking a seat beside me on the bed and gently placing her hand on my shoulder.
She asked," yaad aa rahi hai jamai ji ki?" ( Are you missing your husband?)and tears filled my eyes as I nodded in affirmation
I bit back a sob, my eyes suddenly brimming with tears. The mention of Yuvraj in that casual way, so normal and familiar, sent a wave of emotion washing over me.
"Ji," I managed to choke out, my voice thick with tears. "Bohot jaada , Maa-sa."(Yes, a lot)
My mother's expression softened, and she pulled me into a tight embrace, rubbing soothing circles on my back. "Shh, it's okay, beta," she murmured, her voice gentle and soothing. "You'll see him soon."
I asked "when?" My mother raised her eyebrows, a mix of surprise and concern on her face. "You didn't read his letter?" she asked, disbelief evident in her tone.
