Receiving the Call

May was frozen to the spot in shock. She had just received the call from Headquarters. They called during the day. It was completely unheard of in all her years of service. They suspected the witch from the undying order those years ago had resurfaced. It was hard to believe, after everything she had suffered, why would she do this? HQ had informed her that a donor called in to the LA hospital, and donated a ridiculous amount of money. The amount that was donated had the figures 1354, which is the year the Krsnik order was created. A sign that this wasn't just your regular wealthy woman who just had a fear of missing out on an exclusive event. May flicked her wrist to check her watch. It was still morning. She would have to wait hours before she could tell Adam. I wonder how he will react. Knowing that "red" is back and is basically calling to the fugitive we had been hunting for years. She sighed as she pulled back the window blinds to take a look outside. Fernestshire, small basic human town, with just a few too many feral vampires roaming around at night. Adam and her had taken out a few, Even took some hostages to see if they would talk about their new Master - Lance Haddington. Of course, they never did, they had been mind compelled so much they could barely say a comprehensive sentence by the end of it. May would search for him during the day. Every time she thought she was getting close it turned out just to be another one of his freshly turned vampire minions. She was told not to ambush him alone, and every sun set without fail, he was gone and decoy was in his place. They never even got a glance of him. It was extremely infuriating especially with all the humans who lost their lives due to his disgusting behaviour. May wanted to find and ambush him during the day herself. But rules were rules and she never broke the rules. She had requested other risen agents for this mission, but the request had been declined multiple times. She asked for an explanation and that was also declined. It was more than infuriating. May looked up thid 'Elise Wester' - the lady who donated such a large sum to her organisation. It took a while on her phone but a few pages in she found an article about a Garden Nursey located 5 hours north from here. A picture of the staff members were all standing side by side smiling at the camera. And there she was, the little witch from New York City. She did well to hide herself for so long. But something had to happen. There was just no way that it was just a coincidence that shortly after Lance came out of hiding she did to. There is more to this story and we are missing it , she thought. Maybe she was connected to this town somehow? But I already had a look in the school filles and she wasn't there. Not in any of the year books either. Although there was one year missing. If I was Lance I wouldn't want anyone to find out the details of my most successful weapon either. Perhaps I should try the doctor's office and then the school again. She flicked open the blinds again about to open the window to climb out, when she remembered that it was the middle of the day, and she had to pretend she was human for the most part. Ugh not fun at all she mumbled to herself as she slipped her black hoodie over her head and popped her head phones in her ears. This is a pop music kind of day, she thought as she tapped to turn them on.

There was only one doctor's office in this town, she thought to herself as she start to stroll towards it. It was a beautiful day, hardly any cars on the road. She could hear the flick of the traffic lights change, the leaves of the trees rustled as a bird found it's perch. It is a beautiful place, but the silence is deafening May thought, thank goodness for my tunes. A few people came out of the convenience store she was passing and turned to look at her. It was unlike her to bring attention to herself, but being in a small country town where everyone knew everyone and there had been a ridiculous increase in crime, it was not surprising they stopped and stared. She knew her appearance didn't help with their concerns, in her sunglasses and black hood, hiding from the sun. It had been a long time since she had visited a town like this. Normally, Adam and her would be in and out in 24 hours. Not staying once their mission had been completed, and out in remote areas there would normally only be 2 or 3 rogue vampires at the most. Snap some necks, burn some bodies, quickly sweep of the town to take care of any survivors or newly turned. The story was a lot nicer for the survivors, if the human hadn't taken in vampire blood they could be mind compelled and continue with their life like nothing happened. Quick smell of their blood and you could tell. If humans that had vampire blood within them would have to meet the same fate as the vampire who turned them. A vampire who no longer had the vampire who turned them alive was likely to be completely feral. May hated that part of the job, it was the hardest part. But she always did what she had to do. She had fought with Adam on multiple occasions on this strict regulation. He often couldn't bring himself to do it, especially if it happened against the person's will or they had no idea. Adam was very stubborn. She suspected that is why he hadn't yet risen.
