Emmerson fiddled with his phone in his hand. He had just heard the voice message Elara had sent him and told the pilot to fly as close as he could to that conference centre. I hope she doesn't go. I hope she doesn't put herself in that type of danger. I just want to be able to take him out, get her back and sort this out. Ugh that voice message! She isn't his and will never be! He slammed his hand down on the arm rest, and it broke off its socket.
He knew he shouldn't, but he pulled up the article again on his phone, and zoomed in on the photo. Of Elodie in that red dress. She wouldn't have even gotten out the door with that on if I was there. He thought, his breathing quickened as he thought about how he would devour her, with and without that dress. His thumb twitched, and the photo zoomed out again. Showing her on the arm of a pale man. He tried to look up details of this guy, but nothing came up. He was vampire he knew he was. Emmerson had seen enough vampires now to know. He wasn't Lance though - he knew that from the voice message left on Elodie's phone. The guy didn't have that bewildered look on his face either, like he was charmed. Emmerson hated that. He hated how they looked good together, hated how Elodie looked happy and almost relaxed. Hated how it looked like she grabbed hold of him and not the other way around. This had better have been the extent of what happened between you too. He grumbled to himself. He didn't want to think about what those two would have gotten up to on a luxury yacht...
The seat belt light came on as the pilot started up the plane and was getting ready for take-off.
His phone buzzed in his hand - it was Elara.
"Yeah?"
"Emm! We can't mind link you! No one can! Emm, it's like you're not in our pack anymore."
Cypress, can we reach Bane or Eira or anyone, even the pilot?
- No.. We are all by ourselves.
"Cypress says we are all by ourselves. I don't understand I didn't leave the pack or reject Alpha Leon. "
"You still smelt the same as you did before, Emm, but are you sure you should go?! With your wolf like this? What if something happens to you? What if we can't reach you?!"
"I'm going, nothing can stop me. I don't know why she did what she did. But no good can come from it. I have a vague idea where she is and where she could potentially be, and I need to take it. Get to her before that Lance piece of shit does."
"Leon asked her to... Not this specifically, but he asked her to help. He didn't want to risk our safety anymore with the vampires. Especially because of what happened to me and with you being so sick."
Emmerson frowned. He was cross with Leon asking Elodie to assist. What was she going to do against a powerful vampire? But he understood his desperation to save his mate, well, at least he thought he did.
"He wants you to bring her back to the pack though..." Elara stuttered out.
"Well. Okay? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all for it. But does he have a reason?"
"Well.. Yes.. " Elara hesitated.
"Out with it, Elara!"
"She's his sister. Well half-sister."
"I'm sorry.. What?! Goddess, his dad! I knew he was seeing other women. He was such an asshole. But Elodie's mother and Arabella? That's a lot to take in."
"No... They don't share a father.
Elodie's mother, Valerie Swinton, is Leon's mother too. Leon isn't related to Arabella and Elodie isn't related to Leonard."
"I can't believe what I'm hearing!" There was a long silence between them. How could this have happened?
"How does he know this?"
"He made Elodie take a DNA test when he saw her."
"He made..."
" He asked. Nicely. He wouldn't have forced her. You know he wouldn't!"
" Yes, no your right, I do. Sorry, just really on edge right now. Elara, you know if Elodie and Leon share a mother? That Leon is half witch half wolf."
"I have to go!" Elara said as she quickly hung up the phone.
The conference center had exactly the same skin crawly vibes as the hotel use to have. Like it had seen way too many dark things to ever see the light of day properly again.
Elodie knew it would be. Lance asked her to come here. Of course, it was going to be creepy. She had taken her time getting here, getting out of the red dress. Taking a shower, putting on her own clothes again. Jeans, long sleeves shirt and her cloak that she wore over her shoulders once she got to the abandoned building gates. She thought it might stop the shivers a little bit, but she was wrong. She had stopped by the beach, watched a young family playing in the waves. Had breakfast and then lunch, while people watching at a roadside diner. Why rush the day when a killer vampire will have you cornered once the sun sets? I'm well and truly out of time, she thought. Sitting in the centre of an enormous hall looking out of the massive windows that watched over the once maintained gardens, now just a mess of trees and overgrown grass. She had opened all the windows, so she could feel the breeze, but also, if things played out right, she could take a stand for herself. If things didn't... and Lance attempted to turn her, she would end it all right here. Still have my knife, I can use the wind to push me on to the roof, so I can fall. I have options. Elodie rocked herself a bit. I need to. I can't become a vampire for the pain I would cause the human race. Its, it's just not okay.
She was scared. Not of Lance, fuck him. But that today was the day she saw her last sunrise.
"Been a while." Elodie said with far too much confidence.
He was standing at the double-doored entrance to the hall.
"Still can't sneak up on you". She could here the grin in his voice.
That voice, if she hadn't heard it on the voice message before it would have made her shake in fear. But she had. She knew what she was going to be facing all too well.
But when she turned around to face him, she saw something she wasn't at all prepared for.
"Ahh, yes I should have introduced my guest for tonight, Elodie. I must say I have been incredibly rude. This is .."
"Dorothy.." Elodie whispered. The tall, attractive brunette woman was standing next to him, extremely confidently. She was mad at her, the anger glaring from her eyes was intense.
