CAUGHT BETWEEN LOVE AND FEAR;
BETWEEN
FRIENDSHIP AND DESIRE
It wasn’t love I was afraid of losing—
it was the friendship we built over decades

“You still have these pictures?”

Taehyung asked, his gaze wandering over the wall of memories that I had carefully curated over the years. Each photograph told a story, capturing moments from our childhood—our laughter, our innocent adventures, and those pivotal teenage years filled with shared secrets and dreams.

I smiled softly, a wave of nostalgia washing over me.

“Why wouldn’t I have them, Tae?”

I replied, my voice light yet full of unspoken emotion. It was a simple question, yet it opened the floodgates of memories we had built together.

As I stood there, looking at him, the distance between us felt charged. His presence was comforting, familiar, and the way he looked at the pictures made my heart swell. He then turned his head towards me while I studied his face, losing myself in his expressive eyes, which sparkled with warmth and curiosity. My gaze flicked to his lips for a brief moment before I met his eyes again, feeling a rush of anticipation as he stepped closer.

“Are you and Jungkook really not in a relationship?”

He asked, his tone suddenly serious, pulling me out of my reverie.

I felt a twinge of panic as I shook my head, trying to keep my voice steady by his sudden question and seriousness.

“We only dated for a few months, and before I thought of even leaving, we had already broken up”

I explained, my heart racing. The memories of my brief relationship with Jungkook felt like a distant echo, overshadowed by the feelings I had for Taehyung.

A flicker of something—concern? curiosity?—passed through his eyes as he processed my words. He took another step closer, and instinctively, I took a step back until my back met the edge of my desk. The air between us felt thick with tension, a mixture of unspoken feelings and lingering doubts.
