With each stolen glance, he felt himself pulled deeper, a silent plea hidden in his eyes— ‘stay close even if you never truly can’”

I collapsed onto the edge of my bed, my shoulders hunched as tears fell relentlessly, tracing wet paths down my cheeks. Each drop felt like a small fragment of my heart breaking away. Why the h-ll am I even crying? The question echoed in my mind, a hollow cry of confusion and pain.

Unknowingly, without intending it… Taehyung is going to be mine. He’ll be my husband, and I’ll be his wife. But why does it feel so wrong? Why doesn’t it bring me the joy I imagined it would? My fingers clutched the bedsheets, knuckles turning white as I tried to hold myself together. He’ll be mine, and I’ll be his… So, what’s wrong with it?

I swallowed hard, forcing myself to breathe through the anguish tightening my chest. But my heart wouldn’t listen—it kept screaming their names over and over, echoing like a broken record stuck on a painful loop. Taehyung’s and So-yeon. Taehyung’s and So-yeon.

The images of them together—laughing, smiling, looking at each other with that tenderness only shared between lovers—flashed before my eyes, searing into my mind. And no matter how tightly I closed my eyes, I couldn’t shut it out.

A soft click sounded, breaking through my thoughts. I looked up, startled, and my gaze locked onto the figure at the door. Taehyung stood there, his hand still on the knob as he closed the door behind him, sealing us in this suffocating silence. He turned to face me, his expression unreadable, eyes flickering with something I couldn’t quite grasp.

I exhaled shakily, frustration and helplessness bubbling to the surface. I pushed myself off the bed and took a step toward him, my heart pounding so loudly I wondered if he could hear it.

“What are you doing here, Taehyung?”

I whispered, my voice trembling despite my efforts to sound composed.

I stopped in front of him, tilting my head up to meet his gaze. He towered over me, his presence overwhelming. But it wasn’t his height or the breadth of his shoulders that felt imposing—it was the unspoken words between us, the emotions neither of us could fully articulate.
