The following morning was dreadful, Albus had barely any sleep and everything was so much worse when he discovered that Scorpius was sleeping right next to him. Albus learnt that Scorpius didn't do a whole lot, he sat in his bed with the curtains drawn, allowing nobody to see what he was up to.
Albus found himself pondering about a certain map in the night, hesitating for hours to get it out of the pillow he had slept on. It would help him see what Scorpius is truly up to, but he knew it would be a little stalker-ish.
He found it odd, somebody joining towards the end of Hogwarts. Albus didn't find any reason to why Scorpius would leave his home to come here, he was wealthy, he had his parents, he was happy. Of course, he looked a little down at times when Albus had seen him - fed up of whoever was trying to talk to him. Occasionally, Scorpius would charm them - or just zone out and nod along. It was obvious that Scorpius Malfoy wasn't interested in making friends, at least genuine ones.
Albus had been up since three in the morning, wondering why on earth Scorpius Malfoy was so difficult to talk to. Albus knew he didn't make the greatest first impression on the Malfoy, he made himself look like a total freak in front of him. It didn't help his case when Malfoy caught himself and Rose following him.
It soon came to the time where Albus was wandering aimlessly up to the great hall for breakfast. He was never a breakfast person, but he liked to people watch from the Slytherin table. It was funny, seeing everybody gossip and talk about unnecessary things.
As he entered the Great Hall, his eyes immediately landed on the Slytherin table. Looking for Malfoy. Though, Albus quickly discovered that he wasn't there.
"You're up bright an early for a change." A voice came from behind him, it was only when Albus turned around his smile grew.
There he was.
"Fancied a change, James." Albus shrugged, watching his brother flash his brows.
"That's a first, I have quidditch practice soon." James huffed, beginning to walk and guide Albus towards the Gryffindor table, "I would kill for a few days rest."
"Quidditch practice, already?" Albus furrowed his eyebrows, "It's the second day?"
"Professor Wood takes it seriously, he's a mad man." James took a seat in the middle of the table, "Rose told me about your new obsession."
"My new obsession?" Albus' expression showed confusion.
He knew what James was on about.
"The Malfoy kid," James grabbed a slice of toast, "She says that you're obsessed with him."
Albus let out a loud scoff, "I'm not, I just think he's a bit..." He paused, "Fishy?"
"Fishy?" James chuckled, nodding at his brother, "Because he joined with two years left to go?"
"Yes.." Albus looked around the room, making sure that nobody was near him before he lowered his voice into a whisper, "His Dad was a death eater, James."
"What about his Mum?"
"What about her?"
"I'm sure he's not a death eater, his Mum is apparently really lovely. Ginny says so."
"You mean Mum."
"Yeah, Ginny. It pisses her off, I like to call her by her name even when she isn't near." James explained with a grin, taking a bite of toast.
"Who's his Mum?" Albus questioned, watching his brother try to hurry his chewing to answer.
"A Greengrass, I think." He took another bite, "They're nice people."
