Not needing to sleep and her excessive love of speeding meant that Roslyn reached Minnesota within the day. Dean was keeping her updated and had managed to convince a local deputy to help him out. Clearly, he was desperate to get his little brother back. Roslyn knew the feeling well. She would have gone through literal hell for her sister. She'd been turned for her.

Dean was waiting when Roslyn's mustang stopped in a spray of gravel. She couldn't stop the laugh that burst from her throat; she probably wouldn't have even if she wanted to. It was the first time she'd truly laughed since spring break. He was glaring at her as she rounded the car, yanking his arm where it was handcuffed to the police cruiser.

"Very funny," Dean ground out, rolling his eyes as Roslyn's laughter died down. "Mind getting me out of this before I dislocate something myself?"

Roslyn had the chain snapped and was at the edge of the forest before he had even finished speaking. She nodded into the wilderness. "You coming? I can smell him from here."

Dean's glare didn't lessen as he stalked toward her. "How many are there?"

Roslyn paused, focusing all of her senses on the forest. She could hear shouting and shallow breathing, but there wasn't anything that smelled odd. "Six. One is Sam. The other's scent is all over the car, so I'm assuming that's the cop you pissed off."

"What are they?"

She cast a sidelong glance at Dean as they trudged through the underbrush. "Sammy got jumped by humans."

Dean spluttered, pausing to stare at her.

"I could probably take them out all on my own if you want to wait here." Roslyn shrugged, looking up at him.

A stake was pressed against her heart and she stopped breathing. Slowly, her gaze traveled up to meet Dean's eyes.

"What... The fuck?"

"That is my little brother in there. No one is rescuing him except me." Dean growled, narrowing his eyes at her.

Roslyn had the stake in her hand and poised at Dean's neck before he knew what was happening. "If you're going to threaten a vampire, make it a surprise. Why did you even call me here if you don't want my help?"

Dean's mouth opened, but he snapped it shut before he could make a sound. There was a guilty look on his face that Roslyn picked up on before he wiped it away.

"What?"

"One of your friends called."

"The Cullen's didn't know I was leaving until I was nearly out of Forks."

"It was the girl."

Roslyn blinked. It was all she could make her body do. Finally, she got her jaw working, but not her voice. She coughed.

"Raya?"

Dean didn't respond, but it was enough of an answer. Raya had pushed aside her own grief for Roslyn, or maybe she was just handling it better. Raya had always been good at compartmentalizing. Roslyn had just figured that she would be different considering it was her twin that had died.

Roslyn took a deep, shaky breath, the stake in her hand lowering to her side. The subtle thud of it hitting the ground fell on deaf ears as she took off in a run. Dean's angry shout followed her. A human heartbeat broke through the haze in Roslyn's mind.

"Well, hello there." Roslyn's head slowly tilted to the side and she grinned down at the small blonde in front of her.

A child hadn't been what Roslyn was expecting, but her mind had bigger things to worry about. She allowed her fangs to slide into place and the girl's eyes widened with terror. The girl turned to run, barely making it a step before her blood was on Roslyn's tongue.
