Chapter 8: Getting the Golden Egg

Two workers enter Norlan's office as he gets up, pain in his crotch. Norlan then looks at the leaderboard and sees it was empty.

Norlan: Get me out of this thing.

On Planet Doom, Red Hood opens his eyes looking around, still alive.

Y/N: Uh... Guys?

Zhou: Y/N. He's still alive!

Red Hood pulls something out of his pocket, he sees it was the quarter that the Curator gave him. He flipped it over and sees it was an extra life.

Red Hood: Extra life. Thanks, Curator.

At IOI, Norlan's helpers were taking off the suit from Norlan as he sees Y/N's gamertag return on the leaderboard with two out of the three keys.

Norlan: Hold on.

Red Hood puts in Adventure and begins to play as a live feed shows Red Hood playing.

IOI Female: Live feed in all OASIS channels. Halliday's letting everyone watch the end of the contest. That's so Halliday.

IOI Male: God damn it, we tried Adventure.

IOI Female: No, we tried to win it. But the hidden room isn't at the end of the game. You've gotta go straight to the invisible dot at the start.

All the IOI workers begin to watch the live feed as Samantha continues to run through the streets.

Toshiro: Is that her?

Helen: Red hair, IOI uniform, doesn't know what planet she's on? That's her.

Helen's truck pulls up to her and Toshiro steps out.

Toshiro: I'm Toshiro. You know me as Daito.

The two then entered the truck and Samantha sees Helen and Wade.

Samantha: Oh.

Helen: Hey, Arty. Yeah, I know. Not what you were expecting, huh?

Samantha: Yeah, I wasn't expecting a late '30s-model postal van.

She then sees Y/N still having the headset on.

Samantha: Y/N? Wait, I thought the Cataclyst went off. How are you still playing?

Y/N: Extra life, long story. Sorry I shot you.

She then sees Shoto.

Samantha: Sho?

Shoto: What? Do I have to wear a sign saying, "I am 11 years old, shoot me first"? No, thanks.

Samantha: Dude, give me a hug.

Shoto: Ninjas don't hug!

Helen: All right, everybody, hold on to somethin'.

Helen drives off as IOI drones sees the truck and follows it. F'Nale sees the truck as the drone scan it and it matches.

F'Nale: Got you.

She then calls Norlan.

F'Nale: Come on, Nolan. Pick up.

Norlan: F'Nale, tell me something good.

F' Nale: I've got a drone on their tail. I'm close.

Norlan: Send me coordinates.

F' Nale: Maybe you should leave this to me, Nolan. Nolan? Nolan.

Norlan enters the garage and to one of the trucks that a security guard was about to drive off in.
