"Night Wanderer," Zhang Yuqing said calmly.

"I'm asking for your profession," the voice insisted.

"Night Wanderer," Zhang repeated.

Li Dongze was momentarily stunned. Then he straightened up abruptly, leaning forward, his eyes burning as he fixed his gaze on Zhang Yuqing. "You're a Night Wanderer?"

"Yes," Zhang Yuqing nodded.

A sharp intake of breath escaped Li Dongze. He shifted in his seat, silent for several seconds as he digested the revelation. Finally, raising his voice, he asked once more, "You're a Night Wanderer? Have I just... found myself a Night Wanderer?"

It was beyond anything he'd ever imagined. Like wishing for a lottery win, and then, against all odds, actually winning.

"I've struck gold." Li Dongze put down his glass, his eyes scanning Zhang Yuqing with growing excitement.

Every Night Wanderer was a hot commodity, coveted by teams of spiritual realm walkers and even entire factions.

Li Dongze had heard of a young widow from the Hundred Flowers Society who had seduced a Night Wanderer from the Scarlet Fire Gang, luring him into defecting. Their passionate affair had turned him into a double agent. The resulting chaos nearly sparked a gang war between the two factions, with even the Five Elements Alliance struggling to mediate.

It was only after the Night Wanderer died during a trial in the spiritual realm that the matter was finally put to rest.

"By the way, what's your spiritual realm ID?" Li Dongze asked, excitement still buzzing under his calm exterior.

With his chest puffed and voice steady, Zhang Yuqing declared, "Primordial Celestial Lord!"

Li Dongze paused for a few seconds, then clapped his hands, "Good name."

Hey, that compliment sounded half-hearted. And why does it look like you want to hit me? Zhang Yuqing modestly replied, "As long as it pleases the leader."

At that moment, a black business sedan pulled into the parking lot of the Kangyang District Security Bureau.

"I'll arrange your onboarding right now. Your base salary is 20,000 a month, with additional mission bonuses and performance rewards for meritorious deeds. Any questions?"

Li Dongze was clearly in a hurry, eager to secure the deal.

Twenty thousand a month? Zhang Yuqing's eyes lit up. "No problems."

Even in a metropolis like Songhai, 20,000 a month was a high salary. He remembered his mother's company, where management earned between 50,000 and 100,000 a month, though that didn't include bonuses, commissions, or stock options.

He followed Li Dongze out of the car, stopping at a small two-story building behind the main security bureau. The building, constructed mostly of large glass panels, exuded a stylish and elite vibe.

Inside, the left side of the first floor was an office area, with seven or eight women seated at desks—some young and beautiful, some mature with a dignified air, and others exuding the competence of seasoned professionals. The right side was a living area, furnished with sofas, tables, a refrigerator, a stove, and a water dispenser.

Some women were working diligently, some were scrolling through dramas with headphones on, and others huddled in small groups gossiping. When Li Dongze entered, they barely glanced up before returning to their activities, unfazed by their boss's presence.

I like this office vibe, Zhang Yuqing mused.

Li Dongze didn't linger, leading Zhang Yuqing up a steel staircase. As they ascended, he turned and said, "These are just regular staff, here to serve us spiritual realm walkers. If you need anything in life or work, just ask them."
