Chapter 1

SALVATORE SCHOOL-HALL-DAY
[Alaric is standing on stage and talking to students. Kol and Davina are standing behind him.]
Alaric: I know we've been through a lot in the last few days. Well, months, really. Okay, uh, it's been a rough couple years, to be honest.
"How about rough life?" Said Audrey.
Alaric: And I wish I could say the worst was over. But no matter what comes next, I firmly believe that we will be able to get through it if we stand united as a school, a community... [Alyssa stands up and clears her throat.]
Alyssa: Sorry, just for clarification, does "our community" include your daughter, who murdered me and held the entire school hostage to stage a grotesque display of black magic power? [Josie is looking down. Students starts whispering.]
"She wasn't in control of herself!" Protested Caroline.
"It doesn't matter to Alyssa. She was killed and she was killed by Josie. Dark josie or light Josie or whatever, it was Josie. As much as i hate Alyssa, she has right to be mad at her murderer." Said Audrey.
"But it happened because she was consumed by black magic. She was herself." Said Stefan.
"It doesn't change what happened to Alyssa, does it?" Said Audrey.
Alaric: Josie is back to normal and safe.
Alyssa: Thanks to Hope, but--
Kaleb: (interrupts) Okay, so, what are we supposed to do now? And why are we all wearing gym clothes?
Alaric: Something you haven't had a chance to do in far too long: be kids. I want you to remember what it's like to not have to worry about something you shouldn't have to and grow closer together in the process.
"Good idea." Said Caroline.
Alaric: Now, before you ask me how... [MG gets on stage.]
MG: As president of the Student Activities Committee, I'd like to welcome you all to the first ever Salvatore School Field Day. The buses are waiting for you outside. Don't forget to bring your smiles. [Students applaude.]
SALVATORE SCHOOL-CORRIDOR-DAY
[Jed, Lela and Audrey walking out together.]
Jed: Are you going?
Audrey: (scoffs) Absolutely not. I'm not in the mood to play Alaric's stupid games.
"It is for school." Said Caroline.
"I just lost my friend. I have right to not be in mood for games." Said Audrey.
"Sorry. I forgot." Said Caroline. Audrey nodded in acknowledgement.
Lela: Same. Plus i have date. [Audrey and Jed look at her surprised.]
Jed&Audrey: You do?
Lela: Yeah. After everything that happened, i want some alone time with my girlfriend.
"Good. You two deserve some rest." Said Hayley. Hope smiled at her.
Audrey: Understandable. (Smile) You deserve some relaxtion. [Lela smiles at her.]
Jed: Fine. Lela isn't coming. But Audrey--
Audrey: I already said no.
Jed: Come on! For me.
Audrey: No, Jed. I'm going to check up on Carlos and then look for Necromancer.
Jed: Do you really think he will come back?
Audrey clenches her jaw.
Audrey: Landon did.
Lela: Yes, but Landon also said Carlos decided staying to prevent Necromancer from getting power and conviced Landon to leave.
Audrey: He will come back. [Lela and Jed share a look, but don't comment.]
"Did he?" Asked Davina.
"You will see." Said Audrey.
[In meanwhile, on the another side of the corridor, Alaric and Lizzie are talking.]
Lizzie: A freaking field day? As in an entire day spent in an actual field. That's your plan to get everyone to stop looking at Jo like she's an ax murderer?
"It's not the best idea, but it's better than nothing." Said Caroline.
Alaric: Have you got a better one?
Lizzie: I'm so glad that you asked. Based on my own personal growth, I have created a three step approach.
Alaric: Elizabeth, I have got time for exactly one step, and that involves you looking out for your sister while I deal with Carlos, among many other things.
Lizzie: Dad, that's impossible. I'll have to deploy the nuclear option, which is me backsliding to using my mean girl bully pulpit to persuade everyone to forgive and forget all the awful things that Jo did. And I'm just not that person anymore.
Josie: Lizzie? [Josie is bringing ballons. Suddenly her feets get stuck by magic and she falls. Alyssa and her friends start laughing.]
Salvatores glare at them.
Alyssa: Oh, careful, witches. Don't let her catch you laughing, or she might snap. Your necks, that is. [Alyssa and her group walks away laughing.]
"Isn't she afraid Josie might actually snap and kill her again?" Said Kol.
Lizzie: On second thought... let the games begin.
Caroline looks at her daughter sadly.
MYSTIC FALLS-THE GRAVEYARD-DAY
[Chad walks in the crypt.]
Chad: Ted? S-Sorry to bug you, I-I think I just forgot my headphones. [Chad takes headphones from statue. Then je sees cloak, looks around and then puts it on.]
Chad: (immitating) It is I, the all-powerful Necromancer! Ha ha! All alone.
People chuckle at him.
Chad: Oh, if only I hadn't treated you so badly. To make it up to you, I will raise any monster of your choosing.
"He is cute." Chuckled Davina.
Chad: A Pegasus, you say? Whatever your heart desires, my dear friend. Rise. [Creature's hand comes out of Malivore.]
Chad: Er... that wasn't me. [The green lady with white dress gets out of Malivore.]
Chad: Whoa, you're no horsey.
Nimue: I am Nimue. The Lady of the Lake.
"So Malivore doesn't bring back creature of your choosing?" Asked Freya.
"No." Answered Audrey.
"Then how are we gonna get Ryan and Carlos?" Asked Hayley.
"Ryan is probably already out of Malivore since he was let out after Landon's birth. And Carlos... He will join his love after Malivore's death." Said Audrey.
"So he will die." Said Marcel. Audrey nodded, looking on verge of tears.
"No one can save everyone." Said Hope.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart." Said Hayley. Audrey nodded. Klaus comfortingly patted her back.
Chad: I'm-I'm Chad. Just Chad.
Nimue: I do require your help, if you are a worthy man. [Loud bubbling is heard from Malivore. Nimue looks at it.]
"What?" Said Damon.
Nimue: We must go. Now. [Nimue walks out hurridly, Chad follows.]
SALVATORE SCHOOL-CORRIDOR/LIVING ROOM-DAY
[Audrey is talkimg on phone.]
Audrey: Yep. Hope and Lela are on date.
Freya: How are you?
Audrey: Like i said thousand other times you asked i'm fine and so is Hope.
Freya: Be carefull. That school seems to be too dangerous.
"It is. I don't know how you conviced my future self to leave you there." Said Freya.
[Necromancer walks in and he looks like he is wrestling someone, but no one is visable.]
Audrey: (on Phone) Yeaah. I have to go. I promise i will call you back.
"Exactly my point!" Said Freya.
Freya: What's happening?
Audrey: Bye. Love you. [Audrey hangs up and looks at scene unfold.]
Necromancer: You... you... you must deal with this lying, cheating, backstabbing miscreant. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Get in there, you insubordinate little... [We see Necromancer throws Carlos in the living room. Audrey follows.]
Audrey: Necromancer! Just the man i was looking for. Care to explain what are you doing and why Carlos isn't back?
Necromancer: I'm in possession of the shapshifter's infuriatingly stubborn spirit. But the dark magic I was promised remains out of my grasp until birdbrain here returns from the dead. Now all I need to do is drop him back into his body, and we can all go about our merry business.
"Then do it!" Said Marcel.
Audrey: So what are you waiting for?
Necromancer: The little pillock won't come back!
ART GALLERY-MYSTIC FALLS-DAY
[Hope and Lela are walking in ar Gallery and watching beautiful paintings and sculptures. There is classic music playing in the background. One painting caughts Hope's attention and she goes toward it. Lela follows.]
Hope: Beautiful, isn't it? Painting can tell you so much about painter.
Lela: What do you mean?
Hope: Look at this for example. Person who painted it is clearly depressed. Look at these lines. They feel lost and angry. There is so many emotions and confusion here. But look at the light there. It shows painter still has hope, Artist is disperate and lost, but isn't giving up. It shows their resilience. It's facinating. [Lela is looking at Hope and how her face lights up while talking.]
Klaus smiles at Hope.
"You sound like Nik when he goes on about the new artist he is obssesed with." Said Kol.
"Not obsessed. Just acknowledging talent." Said Klaus. Kol and Elijah give him a look.
"What you two would know about it, uncultured morons." Scoffed Klaus. People look amused.
Lela: Yes. Magnificent. [Hope looks at Lela and sees Lela is looking at her instead of painting.]
Hope: You aren't even looking at it.
Lela: I'm looking at the most beautiful art peace here.
"Cliche." Said Audrey.
Hope: (smiling) You are such a flirt.
Lela: I'm saying truth. We are surrounded by the most beautiful paintings and sculptures, but i would rather look at you and the way your eyes light up when certain artwork catches your attention, i would rather hear how passionatly you talk about them, i would rather see that smile that tags on your face when you get lost in artworks. I would rather admire you, because nothing in here could ever compare to your beauty. When you were unconscious, i realised that i can't live without you and i want to spend rest of my life looking at you and listening to your adorable rambling about art. [Hope is blushing furiously. Lela kisses her.]
"This is the cutest thing i have ever heard." Said Hayley.
"My heart can't handle this." Said Caroline.
"It is so disgustingly sweet, it is giving me teeth ache." Said Audrey.
MYSTIC FALLS-FIELD-DAY
[Park is filled with Salvatore school students. They are all having fun.]
Lizzie: This is going so great. Right? [MG and Lizzie chuckle.]
Lizzie: Except for whatever Wade's doing. [We see blindfolded Wade hitting punch bag with wooden stick.]
"What is he even doing?" Asked Audrey.
MG: Uh, LARPing. Oh. As a fairy faction of one. Like you said, so far so good. But the real test will be when the different factions pick captains to start playing games together, with vampires, witches and werewolves on the same team for a change.
Lizzie: Before that happens, I just want to soak in this golden moment, when we both believed that maybe, just maybe, your plan would have worked.
Audrey snorts.
MG: It will, just give it time.
Lizzie: I can't. Not when Josie's reputation is at stake.
MG: Okay. Lizzie, I know this tone of voice. Please tell me what you're getting ready to do.
Lizzie: Nothing that you or I will be proud of, so, like I said, remember this, and try and forget what I'm about to do next, okay?
MG: Li-Lizzie. Lizzie...
[Lizzie walks toward Alyssa. Alyssa is talking to group of witches.]
Alyssa: If I'm elected as your captain, I want you to know that I'm only choosing witches for my team. Because unity starts in the coven. With one obvious exception we can all agree on.
[Alyssa looks at Josie.]
"Bitch." Said Caroline.
Alyssa: So, all those in favor, - say...
Lizzie: Nay. Look, I know it has been a tough time, so I would like to remind you of a simpler one. The way that things used to be. And what will happen if you don't vote for me as your captain.
Alyssa: Is that a threat?
Lizzie: Only to those dumb enough not to fall in line.
"Good one." Said amused Audrey.
"You only say that because it's something you would do." Said Hope. Audrey shruggs, but doesn't deny.
Josie: Lizzie, don't do this.
Lizzie: That is so Josie. The same Josie that we have known for years. Okay? The kindhearted, compassionate, considerate Josie. The same Josie who would stick her neck out for any one of you. [Alyssa clears her throat.]
Lizzie: Don't! Yes, she messed up. But you've been messed up your whole life, and we have all had to deal with it. So, with a gentle reminder that I know where you all live... who votes for me?
Audrey and Caroline laugh.
[Everyone raises their hands.]
Lizzie: I truly appreciate everyone's support. And for my first pick as captain? [Lizzie wraps her arm around Josie.]
Lizzie: Josie.
Alyssa: Cool. Because MG told me I get to pick the game.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-HALL-DAY
Audrey: Quit playing games. Are you telling me you're not powerful enough to force Carlos into his body?
Necromancer: Not powerful enough? (Gasps) I am the lord of the restless dead. The judge of all men's fates. I swim laps in the River Styx.
"I have never met anyone as dramatic as him and my uncle is Kol Mikaelson." Said Audrey.
"You are one to talk." Said Kol.
"Who do you think i got it from?" Replied Audrey.
"Your father?" Said Kol.
"Good point. Everyone in our family has flare for dramatics." Acknowledge Audrey.
Necromancer: But even I have... (Groans) limitations. Technically, I can only raise a spirit to life if the spirit or the host is willing.
Audrey: Well, that's a big technicality.
Carlos: It matches his ego.
Necromancer: (angrily) Never has a soul been so stubborn as to refuse my gracious offer to return to this realm.
"I came back." Said Klaus.
"You probably wanted to see us." Said Hope.
Audrey: Fine. Can you make me see him or at least, hear him, so i can convice?
Carlos: You are wasting your time. I'm not coming back.
Necromancer: (to Audrey) Of course. But only an hour.
Audrey: It will be enough.
