Chapter 2

MYSTIC FALLS-FIELD-DAY
[Lizzie is helping Josie tie rope on her.]
Josie: This is gonna be a disaster. We need to rethink this.
Lizzie: No way, Jo-say, because as stirring and intentionally terrifying as my speech was, do you know what speaks louder than words?
Josie: Actions?
Lizzie: Winning.
Josie: Alyssa wormed her way on to a team full of vampires and werewolves and chose tug-of-war. [We see Jed and Kaleb tying rope on Alyssa.]
"Puppies." Rolled her eyes Audrey.
Josie: I mean, this rope weighs more than me. I shouldn't be the anchor.
Lizzie: Not after you cast immobilus.
Josie: No, I can't do that.
Lizzie: Don't think of it as cheating. Okay? Think of it as, uh... taking action. The perfect hero move.
"She means literally." Said Stefan.
Josie: No, no, no. Lizzie, Lizzie, no, no, no... [whistles sound is heard. Lizzie leaves Josie.]
MG: All right, Salvatore Stallions! Is everybody ready for some friendly inter-faction competition? [Students cheer.]
Josie: Lizzie!
Lizzie: Thank you for your words of encouragement, Jo. I think I speak for us all when I say it lifts our spirits to victory. We're ready. [Lizzie grabs rope.]
Lizzie: Blow the damn whistle. [MG blows the whistle. From one side of rope Lizzie, Josie and their team is tugging, from another Alyssa, Jed, Kaleb and their team. Alyssa's team manages to pull them few steps.]
Lizzie: (yells) Jo, what are you waiting for?
Josie: I told you, I can't!
Kaleb: Come on! [Alyssa's team pulls the rope and people with them.]
"No, no, no." Said Caroline.
Lizzie: Abort! Abort! [Lizzie's tema lets go of rope and jumps away. Josie falls straight into mud. Crowd oohs. Alyssa laughs.]
Alyssa: So... Josie's a mud monster like Malivore. It all makes sense now.
Salvatores glare at Alyssa.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-CARLOS'S DORM-DAY
[Carlos and Audrey are arguing.]
Carlos: Look, if I stay dead, The Necromancer doesn't get the dark magic that he wants and everyone stays safe and alive.
Audrey: Except you! Stop being a damn martyr.
Carlos: I will be better off as dead, okay? Let me go.
Audrey: No. Not okay. You are my friend and i don't let my friends die.
[Carlos smiles at her.]
Carlos: I'm glad to be your friend, Audrey. You are first true friend i have had in centuries. You are brilliant woman and Ryan is lucky to have you. I'm sure Maeve would love you as well, but it's time for you to let me go.
Audrey: No. You know what Maeve wouldn't love? Your death.
"Why are you so set on he lives? You knew each other for few weeks." Said Klaus.
"I conviced him to change sides. He was my responsibility and so was what happened to him." Said Audrey.
"It wasn't." Said Mikaelsons.
"Besides you heard me, he is my friend." Said Audrey.
"His death wasn't your responsibility, littlest wolf." Said Klaus. Audrey doesn't reply. Klaus sighs knowing he can't change her mind.
Carlos: (sighs) I have already lived long enough, Audrey. I just want to go to peace and join my angel.
Audrey: You can do that. When you die of natural death. Please, Carlos. I have already lost so many people. I can't lose more.
Carlos: It's for the better. Necromancer--
Audrey: Necromancer is just another Malivore creature. He can't bring people that don't want to be back, so he won't be able to bring my parents or uncle that are in peace. Inadu doesn't have body. So there is nothing he could use against me. I will defeat him like i have done to others.
"There many others. Dahlia, Mikael. Lucien..." Said Marcel.
"I'm the Tribrid. I would destroy them. Excpecially with Hope's help." Said Audrey.
Carlos: I don't know if i want to--
Audrey: You wanted revenge on Malivore, didn't you? How are you gonna do it if you are dead?
Carlos: You will do it. I believe in you.
Audrey: Don't you want to be part of it? And you are just 25--
Carlos: No, i am--
"He really spent centuries in Malivore, didn't he?" Said Hayley.
"Why didn't he age?" Asked Freya.
"Time works diferently in Malivore." Said Audrey.
Audrey: Years that you spent in Malivore doesn't count. You have future besides revenge, there is so many things you have missed. You haven't lived yet. You can go to Maeve after you die of old age. For now, come back and live.
Carlos: (sighs) If i say no, you will find another way, won't you?
Audrey: (smiles) See? You get it now.
CAFE-MYSTIC FALLS-DAY
[Hope and Lela are sitting in a cafe and eating burgers and fries.]
Lela: How do you like the date?
Hope: The best date ever. [Hope takes another bite of burger.]
Hope smiles at fond memory.
Lela: Well, good. Because it's not over yet.
Hope: What do you have planned?
Lela: It's a surprise. (Smiles) I think you will like it.
"I did." Said Hope grinning. Mikaelsons smile at her.

[Lizzie helps Josie out of mud. Josie is glaring at her.]
Lizzie: Don't look at me like that. This never would've happened if you had just - cast the spell sooner.
Josie: Or if you'd just listened to me. I can't do magic, Lizzie! I put it away.
Lizzie: (gasps) What? Why the hell would you do that without telling me?
Josie: I tried.
MG: It's okay, Jo. We're listening now.
Josie: You trying to help is the problem. Everybody should be mad at me for what I did. And you trying, it doesn't change anything. You're making everything worse, like you used to. So please, please just let me deal with this on my own.
"She is right. It's her problem to solve. But i get why Lizzie wouldn't be able to stop herself from helping." Said Audrey and looked at Hope.
Lizzie: Jo...
Josie: Stop.
Lizzie: I'm sorry. [Josie turns to leave, mud leaves her.]
Josie: Um... That wasn't me. No magic, remember?
Wade: I can explain. Kind of. Or, well, she can. [Wade steps away and we see Nimue.]
Nimue: I am Nimue, the Lady of the Lake. Protector of Excalibur, the enchanted blade of kings...
Kaleb: Okay, Game of Thrones. We get it.
Wade: Translation: she wants the sword that I borrowed from Dr. Saltzman, which, as it turns out, is the actual Excalibur. But anyways, I figured I'd run it by you all first, seeing as odds are fairly high that she's, uh, one of the bad guys.
"I don't think she is." Said Elijah.
Lizzie: Good job, Wade. [Lizzie takes excalibur from Wade.]
Lizzie: (to Nimue) As for you, sister, we do not negotiate with Malivore monsters.
"Lizzie!" Said Audrey.
Nimue: If it is monsters you fear, you must give me this blade. For a true monster is magically bound to me by its power and pursues Excalibur as surely as I do. Entrust the sword to me, and I shall take it to the protected isle of Avalon. If you hesitate, this world will surely be plunged into darkness. [Kaleb snickere.]
MG: Sorry. We've been through this sort of thing way too many times. [Huge knight appears, walking toward students with heavy steps and growls.]
Lizzie: On second thought, maybe you should give her the sword.
Nimue: I'm afraid it is too late. [Excalibur is trying to fly out of MG's grip.]
Lizzie: MG, are you okay?
MG: I-I can't control it. [Excalibur puts itself in rock. Sky is covered by red clouds.]
"This isn't good." Said Damon, looking at red sky.
Nimue: The challenge has begun. And only the worthy shall win.
Kaleb: What the hell is that thing?
Nimue: The Green Knight. Once noble and now a monster, his body and soul corrupted and decayed as a result of the power he became unworthy to wield, his thirst for more making him a scourge upon mankind.
Lizzie: Huh. Well, too bad for him. We already have one of those. [Lizzie looks at Alyssa.]
"Now isn't time, Lizzie." Said Caroline.
Josie: Why is he moving so slow?
Nimue: I placed a curse upon him eons ago. As the Green Knight approaches Excalibur, he will move more slowly with each step he takes. But he will reach it.
"Why don't you place other curse on him then? For example, sleep curse?!" Said Caroline.
Nimue: And when last the Green Knight wielded Excalibur, Camelot fell and the Dark Ages began.
MG: So how do we stop him?
Nimue: As the Green Knight last held Excalibur, he is its rightful owner. Only a worthy challenger... a champion... may defeat him. Now, I am bound by duty to find one, but if you do not believe yourself capable of it, and you value your lives... now is the time to run. [Students run. Only Lizzie, Jed, Josie and Kaleb stay.]
Jed: Oh, come on. [Wade tries to leave to, but Jed stops him.]
Kaleb: Really? Everybody? [Pedro runs to them.]
"What is kid doing there?" Said Marcel.
Lizzie: Pedro? When did you get here?
Pedro: The lower school's finger painting. This is where I belong. [Jed crucks his knuckles.]
Jed: Well, you came to the right place, Lady. 'Cause killing monsters is kind of what we do.
Alyssa: That is so hot.
Jed: You're damn right it is. And I'm gonna recycle this tin can.
"He is trying so hard." Laughed Audrey.
[Jed's eyes flash yellow and he growls and runs toward knight.]
Kaleb: Wait! Jed, wait! [Knight throws Jed away with one strong hit. Jed breaks his back when he falls and groans in pain.]
Audrey looks at him worried. Along with girls.
MG: Oh! [People look at Jed with pity.]
Nimue: The worthy champion must wield Excalibur. Only its power can fell the Green Knight.
Lizzie: Cool. Thanks for telling us that... now.
Alyssa: So, who's it gonna be?
SALVATORE SCHOOL-LIVING ROOM-DAY
[Kol, Ryan, Landon, Davina and Rafael are sitting in the room with Necromancer. Necromancer is pouring drink for himself.]
Audrey: Hey. [Everyone looks at her.]
Audrey: Carlos is ready.
Necromancer: Finally. [Necromancer drinks and puts the glass on table. Doorbell rings and Landon opens the door. Chad walks in.]
Chad: Hey. Oh, thank God. [Chad sees Carlos.]
Chad: Carlos? I thought you were dead.
"How can he see?" Asked Davina.
"He was dead and brought back, so probably because of that." Said Freya.
Ryan: What are you doing here?
Carlos: Kind of are.
Chad: How do you guys come up with these twists? Oh, I love this place.
Necromancer: Chad. [Chad jumps startled and shouts.]
Chad: Hi. Uh, I was, uh, at the crypt, but-but only because I forgot my headphones. I didn't touch any of your stuff or mess with the pit at all.
"He is bit dumb, but i like him." Chuckled Audrey.
Necromancer: Yeah, yeah.
Chad: Well, a-a lady creature came out of it, and she asked for a worthy champion, which means she was looking for Hope or Audrey. I watch you guys in the basin all the time. Hope's so smart and pretty and-
Audrey: Hope is unavaliable. What else did she say?
Chad: Uh... Uh, she was in search of a sword? Ah. She sensed it was in a field?
Rafael: The field day.
Landon: We should go help them.
Audrey: All of you go. I will make sure Necromancer won't do anything.
Kol: I amn't living you alone with him.
Davina: (to Kol) I will stay. You help kids.
Landon: What if we need magic?
Ryan: Saltzman twins will be there, won't they?
Audrey: They will. See you later. [Audrey pecks Ryan and motions for them to leave. Kol, Rafael, Landon and Ryan leave. Audrey claps her hand and turns to Necromancer.]
Audrey: Let's start.
