Prince Magnus sits under a large tree in the royal garden, a book resting in his lap. He furrows his brow, slightly frustrated. For the past few days, his husband, Alec, the Alpha Emperor, has been so consumed with the affairs of the empire that he barely spends any time with him. Magnus flips through the pages of his book, but his thoughts constantly drift to Alec. He understands the responsibilities of an emperor, yet a part of him feels neglected.

The sun filters through the leaves, casting dancing shadows on the grass as Magnus tries to focus on his reading. He shifts slightly, leaning back against the tree trunk, drawing his knees up, feeling the soft breeze caressing his skin. His amber eyes flicker with a mix of irritation and longing.

Moments later, Alec walks into the garden. He immediately spots Magnus sitting by the tree, the air around him heavy with the prince's unspoken emotions. Alec sighs, feeling a pang of guilt. He knows he's been busy, but Magnus has always been his priority. Alec approaches slowly, careful not to startle him.

"Magnus," Alec calls softly, his deep voice full of affection. Magnus looks up from his book, his expression still tinged with frustration, but his eyes soften slightly at the sight of his husband.

Alec kneels beside Magnus, placing a hand gently on his shoulder. "I know I've been busy," Alec begins, his voice low and sincere, "but I've missed you." He brushes a stray strand of hair from Magnus's face. "You know you mean more to me than anything in this world."

Magnus glances away, stubbornly holding on to his frustration for a moment longer. "You've barely looked at me these past few days," he replies, his voice quiet but laced with a hint of sadness.

Alec's heart tightens at Magnus's words. He moves closer, cupping Magnus's face in his hands. "I'm sorry," Alec whispers, leaning in until their foreheads touch. "I've been drowning in imperial duties, but I'll make it up to you. Tonight, I'm yours. No meetings, no distractions."

Magnus studies Alec's face, his anger starting to melt. "You promise?" he asks, though his tone is softer now, more hopeful than upset.

"I swear it," Alec says, his eyes full of love and regret. "Just give me a chance to show you how much you mean to me."

Magnus sighs, leaning into Alec's touch. "Fine, but you owe me more than just tonight," he teases, though a small smile begins to tug at the corners of his lips.

Alec chuckles softly, brushing his lips against Magnus's temple. "I'll spend a lifetime making it up to you if I have to."

Finally, Magnus laughs quietly, the tension in his body fading away. Alec wraps his arms around him, pulling him close. Magnus leans against his chest, feeling the steady beat of Alec's heart. For now, that's enough.

The two sit together under the tree, the world outside the garden fading away as they find peace in each other's presence once more.

Just as the tension between them starts to ease, they hear footsteps approaching. Alec tenses slightly, turning to see Thomas, his advisor, making his way across the garden with an apologetic look on his face. Magnus's expression hardens again, sensing another interruption.

Thomas bows as he reaches them. "Your Majesty," he says, addressing Alec, "I'm sorry to disturb you, but Andrew Underhill is waiting for you in your private room."

Alec frowns, confused. "Andrew?" He stands slowly, glancing at Magnus, whose shoulders have tensed once more. "What does he want? Is there a problem?"
