It's silent in the house, with the morning sun shining through the window. The soft light floods the landing, the rays bouncing off of the wooden boards. It creeps down the stairs, finding sanctity in the lashes of blood smeared on the lumber. It's bright red, the vivid crimson colour denotes its freshness. He stares at it, his breathing heavy as his chest heaves with an emotion that is difficult to place. Maybe it's not an emotion at all, simply a warped acceptance of what he's just done. Anger still circulates through his system, his nerves on fire as his hands remain extended, frozen in place. There's another boy at the bottom of the stairs, staring up at him with a hint of surprise. His blonde hair ruffles with the draught flowing through the house, almost foreshadowing what's to come. His blue eyes were wide, and his pupils shrank. He seems to be thinking, ignoring the rapidly cooling body on the floor beneath his feet. The one on the landing finally lowers his arms, his stomach empty, as he gently walks down the stairs silently, avoiding the splatters of blood so as not to slip and give him the same fate. They now stand next to each other, peering down at the sprawling mass of hair and torn flesh from the skin scraping against the hard wood. Their gazes meet, and a sickening smile passes through both of their faces. She's out of the way now, and he can finally relax after about a month of arguing. The blonde boy is simply happy that the other boy is happy, a blush rising on his face as he gently picks up a nearby skipping rope. Their friends will hate them forevermore, but they don't need to know how good they feel right now. How close they are to each other.

No mercy, no remorse.
