"uh, ling wen. i want to ask for a favor.." xie lian hesitantly asked the tired goddess on her desk, once again finding himself at her palace a few days after the meeting about the situation that happened on mount yujun.
he sweat dropped when she looked up at him, noticing the dark area underneath her blue eyes. "in terms of the 8.88 million merit credits i owed," ling wen fixed her hair and quickly straightened herself. "your highness, perfect timing. i have got something to tell you."
"congratulations!" she tried to say in an excited tone while grabbing a scroll from the side of her desk that was filled with a bunch of important papers. "the worshippers of mount yujun fulfilled their vows with offerings." she opened the scroll for them to see, "with all the merit credits that you got, you have enough to at least build a palace of your own."
confused, xie lian tilted his head to the side as he looked at ling wen with a perplexed expression. "i thought the payment was going to be used for the debt i owed?" the goddess also tilted her head, mirroring his actions.
"did his majesty, lord [y/n], not tell you, your highness?" at the mere mention of the divine god's name, a hue of red appeared on xie lian's cheeks as he remembered the things that happened a few days ago. "tell me.. what?"
"the day you owed a debt, is also the exact day it got cleared, your highness."
"what? but, how? i thought—"

xie lian couldn't even get himself to say a word, too shocked to hear this information. all this time, his debt was actually cleared? by [y/n]? and he wasn't even aware? he kept interacting with him without knowing that he was the one who saved him from being drowned in debt?
"well, thank you, ling wen. i'll make sure to talk about this with him later.." ling went only nodded in acknowledgment. "now, what have you found out?" xie lian asked her, looking at her servants who seems to be tired like their master.
the usually clean palace of ling wen looked like a mess right now with all of the scrolls and papers being unkept and tossed wherever from the deep searching. the servants carrying other scrolls as they move to one location to another.
the blue haired god sighed, holding her forehead with her fingers in stress. "after our meeting the other day, i reported the affair about leng yan and hua cheng to his majesty, the emperor. now, we're conducting an in-depth investigation." xie lian had his eyes widened a bit from her explanation.
