"Finally!" I said in exhaustion and a deep sigh.
After getting lost for about two hours and almost tripping a couple of times along the way, I managed to carry my two heavy luggage up these low stairs on my new dorm's entrance with the help of Han Jina, the landlady.
It was actually a little weird but at the same time relieving because I've never met a landlady as young as Jina unnie before who's only at 29. She also lives in this dormitory but barely stays here and told me not to be shy because she's not despicable unlike those stereotypical old landladies out there.
"Welcome to Han Dormitory. For starters, my only rules here are one: no boys are allowed inside; two: everyone should help keep everything clean and in its proper condition; and three: be mindful of others. The girls here have also established additional rules but I'll let them do the talking," Jina unnie sums up with a bright smile on her face.
I slowly nodded my head and thanked her for her warm welcome before knocking on the door and slowly opening it.
"YAAAAAH YOO JEONGYEON DELETE THAT!!!!"
"MY ACCOUNT, MY RULES!!!"
"SHUT UUUUP!!!"
"Unnie let's order here."
"I'll have jokbal, Mina, what's yours?"
"Chicken and fries with extra ketchup, Chaeng?"
"Rice ball and some salad."
Loud noises dawned upon us as we entered the dorm. I saw a woman with a very noticeable bunny teeth chasing a tall one who's running like a madwoman. The one shushing them has her hands on her waist while standing behind the sofa where four people were seated and are currently discussing about lunch.
What is happening?!
"Girls!" Jina unnie shouted but it seems like no one heard her.
"HEY GIRLS!" she said in a louder voice while clapping her hands. Everyone froze on the spot and finally turned to our direction.
"Finally! What's up?" Jina unnie asked.
"UNNIEEEE!!!!" seven girls came running towards Jina unnie and tackled her into a group hug.
"You really are energetic today, what's up?" Jina unnie asked.
"The ceiling obvious- OUCH!!!" the tall woman complained after Jina unnie smacked her head while giggling. Seems like everyone forgot about the chaos earlier.
"Anyway, this is Minatozaki Sana from Japan and she will be our dorm mate starting today. I'll leave the introductions and everything to you since I am in a hurry."
Everyone nodded and we all bid our goodbyes to Jina unnie. The girl asking for some jokbal then guided me to the sofa while the others put my luggage on the side. All of us seemed too hesitant on breaking the awkward silence so I decided to introduce myself again.
"Hi! I'm Minatozaki Sana, 27, a newly hired calligrapher and illustrator in Twice Publishing from Osaka. Please take care of me," I said while bowing my head.
"Hello Sana, I'm Park Jihyo, 26 and a vocal trainer in Teudoong Entertainment," the peace officer earlier introduced as we shook hands.
The fighting duo introduced themselves next "I'm Im Nayeon, 28, and a model. This is my girlfriend Yoo Jeongyeon, a 27-year-old photographer."
Eh?! They're a couple?! Weren't they fighting like divorcees just a few minutes ago?!
"I'm librarian Kim Dahyun, 25. Nice to meet you unnie," the pale looking woman who was ordering the food earlier stated.
"Son Chaeyoung at 24 here, pleasure on meeting you too unnie," a tattooed woman said. Looks like I've got an art buddy here.
"While they were all Koreans, the two of us are Japanese. I'm Hirai Momo, 27, a dance choreographer, and this is Myoui Mina, 26, a game developer," the woman with a wolf-cut and bangs said while pointing her thumbs to the one who ordered for extra ketchup.
"Eh?! What did you say Momo unnie?" Chaeyoung asked.
"I said the last pieces of food in the fridge are mine, got a problem with that?" Momo mocked.
"But that was relatively shorter than what you said, what was it?" she whined. We all just laughed at her antics which we all found adorable.
"Well then, let us tour you around. Everybody, get up!" Jihyo declared. Everyone followed and we started touring the house.
It was a three-storey building with nine rooms, five bathrooms, a balcony, a mini gym, and an indoor pool. I was really amazed of how good the amenities are making me doubt the price at first. I thought it was a little bit expensive compared to other dorms but the exclusive gym and pool made it a very cheap deal.
The couple are occupying the largest room on the left side of the living room. Mina and Jina unnie's rooms are on the far right of the house beside an unoccupied room and a bathroom. The living room and kitchen were also here at the center of the house. There's two bathrooms and a utility/laundry room on each of the first and second floor.
We climbed up to the second floor using the stairs by the living room and they showed me my room which was the first one on the left side of the stairs. The room was pretty wide and cozy too. They told me that each room actually have its own walk-in closets which I found cool.
We all have bunker beds with a working table and some storage space below it, a nice wide window, a small sofa and coffee table, and a make-up table. Each room also has an AC, a heater, and is very well ventilated.
The balcony is beside my room and the view there shows the peaceful neighborhood around us. It comes with a coffee table and parallel to the balcony are the second utility/laundry room and another bathroom.
How convenient.
Going back inside, Jihyo said that her room is right in front of mine. The room on beside her is Momo's. She said that they often play loud music and she even does karaoke on her room which was not surprising because of their work backgrounds but the entire rooms and the house itself is sound proof so there's no need to worry.
On the other side of the stairs opposite my room is another bathroom followed by Chaeyoung's room. The next room after Momo's located on the far-right corner with Chaeyoung was Dahyun's room.
The third floor literally made my jaw drop when I saw the place. The place are just mostly glass fences and walls making the place so bright and breezy and the ambience is so relaxing.
After climbing up the stairs and opening the sliding door, I already saw the indoor pool on the left side and it occupied almost a quarter of the entire floor with matching chairs and tables good for gatherings beside it.
The right side is filled with gym equipments like thread mills, weightlifting tools, stationary bike, resting benches and such. There's even a whole freaking trampoline on the corner! Jina unnie must be pretty rich to pull all of these off at her age.
"So, what do you think of the place? Amazing, right?" Jihyo asked.
"Is that even a question? This place exceeded my expectations. It's wonderful," I exclaimed.
"That was also my reaction when I got here," Nayeon said.
"Even if Jina unnie doubled the monthly rent, I wouldn't think twice and just give her the money because that would still be relatively cheap considering these amenities," I blurted out. They all chuckled at my remark and we all headed back to the living room chatting like we've been friends for years now. We then got ready for dinner and that's how my first day went by in my new home.
Looks like I'm going to enjoy my stay here and get along with them well. We seem to match a lot.
