Hours had passed since Hanni had stormed out of the mansion. She had calmed herself down after walking around aimlessly, thinking about her frustrations with Minji. Guilt gnawed at her. She knew deep down it wasn't his fault-he was trapped in a state he couldn't control, and yet, she had left him alone in her moment of anger. With a heavy heart, she decided to return home, wanting to apologize and hold him close.
As she approached the mansion, a sudden dread filled her chest. Something didn't feel right. She pushed open the door and immediately froze in horror. The sight that greeted her was beyond her worst nightmare.
There, at the bottom of the stairs, lay Minji, motionless, blood pooling around him, staining the floor and his clothes. His body was littered with small cuts, his head and abdomen bleeding profusely. His pale face and lifeless form made Hanni's heart stop.
Minji!" she screamed,
dropping to her knees beside him. Her hands trembled as she frantically checked for a pulse, her fingers pressing against his neck. It was faint, weak-barely there. He wasn't breathing properly. Panic surged through her as she scrambled to start CPR, pressing down on his chest, begging him to wake up. Tears streamed down her face as she cried out, “Minji, please! Don't do this to me!"Her voice broke, but she kept trying, her hands shaking as she pumped his chest, desperate to bring him back. "Stay with me, Minji, please," she whispered through sobs. Her mind raced -this couldn't be happening. Not like this. Not now.
The paramedics finally arrived, rushing in and taking over. They placed Minji on a stretcher, attaching monitors and rushing him out the door. Hanni followed close behind, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn't care about anything else but getting him to the hospital. Her mind replayed the events over and over again-how she had left him alone, how he must have run after her, and how it led to this.
At the hospital, doctors worked to stabilize Minji. Hanni sat in the waiting room, her face buried in her hands as tears streamed down her cheeks. Every minute felt like an eternity as she waited for news, her mind plagued with guilt and regret.
Finally, a doctor approached, his face grim. “Minji's condition is critical. He's slipped into a coma, and there's severe damage from the head injury and blood loss. We're doing everything we can, but... we can't predict if or when he will wake up."
Hanni's world shattered in that moment. The weight of the doctor's words hit her like a tidal wave, and she collapsed into a chair, sobbing uncontrollably. Guilt washed over her like a flood. This was all her fault. She had left him, shouted at him, and now he was lying there, teetering on the edge of life and death.
For days, Hanni refused to leave Minji's side. She stayed by his bed, holding his hand, talking to him, hoping he could hear her. The doctors said there was nothing more they could do, that it was up to Minji now. But Hanni couldn't accept that. She couldn't bear the thought of losing him.
Minji could hear her voice in the distance, but his body refused to wake up. He was trapped in the darkness, unable to move, unable to reach her. He could hear her cry, hear her whisper apologies, but his body remained still. He wanted to comfort her, to tell her it wasn't her fault, but he couldn't. He was stuck in this limbo, fighting to come back to her, but it felt like an impossible battle.
