Taehyung and Jin had already set off for Busan, and for half of the journey, they sat silently, each lost in their own thoughts. The air between them was heavy with unspoken emotions. Taehyung, sitting beside Jin, would occasionally glance at him, his eyes filled with something deeper, yet unsaid. He then turned to look out of the window, as the scenery passed by in a blur. Jin, on the other hand, was completely absorbed in his iPad, scrolling through documents and files, his mind focused on work but his heart distracted.
Suddenly, the car came to a halt. Both Taehyung and Jin looked at each other, confused. Jin immediately sent the driver to check outside, wondering what had happened. After a few minutes, the driver returned, his face pale with concern.
"Sir, there has been a major accident ahead. The road is blocked, and we'll have to wait until it's cleared."
Jin checked his watch and, with a serious expression, told the driver, "We can't afford to wait that long. Find an alternate route. We need to reach home before dark."
Taehyung, although uncomfortable with the idea of taking an unfamiliar route, remained quiet. He trusted Jin's judgment, but a gnawing unease settled in his chest.
As they ventured into a mountainous area, the snowfall began to pick up, first gently, then heavily. Jin noticed that his phone had no signal, the dense forest and towering mountains blocking all connection to the outside world. The driver drove cautiously, but soon, they were caught in a traffic jam amidst the worsening storm.
"Sir, we're stuck badly," the driver said anxiously. "A heavy snowstorm is about to hit. It’s not safe to stay in the car. I suggest you find a nearby cottage or hotel to wait it out."
Jin weighed their options. The cold was biting, and the situation was getting more dangerous by the minute. After a brief pause, he nodded. "Alright. Let’s go find shelter."
Stepping out into the freezing cold, Jin immediately felt the icy wind cut through him. The snow was relentless, making it difficult to see ahead. After walking for a while, Jin could barely keep up, his body feeling the full force of the cold. He sat down in the snow, unable to walk further. Taehyung noticed Jin struggling, and without hesitation, he rushed over and gently lifted him into his arms.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got you,” Taehyung whispered, his breath visible in the freezing air.
They walked through the storm, and after what felt like an eternity, they finally spotted a guest house in the distance. A sense of relief washed over them as they approached the small building. Taehyung put Jin down, holding his hand as they knocked on the door.
The storm intensified, and just when they thought no one would answer, the door creaked open. A middle-aged woman stood there, her face full of concern.
"Come in, quickly," she urged, ushering them inside.
The warmth of the room was a stark contrast to the biting cold outside. The woman made them sit by the fire, offering hot tea and a plate of food. Jin and Taehyung were both shivering, but the warmth began to ease the tension in their muscles. They thanked the woman for her hospitality. Shortly after, her husband entered the room.
