No one's povMichael had never been one to run away from his problems; he was the type of person who faced challenges with a head-on approach, that was one of the things that made Micheal, Micheal.
But in that moment, engulfed by uncertainty and fear, he felt the instinctual urge to escape, like a lion fleeing from a fire that scorched the earth.
His legs felt heavy as they moved quickly, he could hear the loud sounds of his legs hitting the gravel road but he didn't care, he needed to leave that place, that area. He didn't want their apartment building to be anywhere in sight. He needed to be as far away from them as possible.
It was as though all the years of insecurities, doubts, and fears had piled up at once, weighing him down like a boulder.
The cool breeze washed over him, but the cacophony of the city only heightened his anxiety. Where would he go? What could he do? Were the thoughts that filled his head.
After a few minutes, Michael found himself gravitating towards a park he spotted just blocks away. Although it was night time and the park was mostly empty, he heard the sounds of young teenagers? Adults? -he didn't care to know- laughing in the distance, which ignited an old memory of him and Dylan when they would walk around in this particular park, when they felt invincible, wrapped up in their own bubble of happiness.
But as he walked through the park now, the laughter felt alien—a painful reminder of what he was running from. He couldn't help the frown that found its way to his face.
Emotion tangled together in a shred of nostalgia and fear that made him feel grounded yet unmoored.
Michael strolled aimlessly around the large park, his mind racing as he meandered through the park's winding paths.
He could hear the distant melody of a street performer playing a soft tune on a guitar, as he watched family, lovers and friends surround the person.
Each note seemed to resonate with the turmoil inside him. He looked up and saw the stars twinkling before he looked back to the scene in front of him. He could see the happy faces of these people as they listened attentively to the sound coming from the guitar and the beautiful singing of the man.
His eyes trained to a couple who held hands and pulled each other close, the man had taken his coat and wrapped it around his lady, she looked up at him and gave him a warm smile.
His heart fluttered at the scene as his brain decided to play a similar scene that had happened between he and Dylan.
'Why are you running from this' his subconscious mind couldn't help but ask
'You like Dylan, you've never cared for a threesome, so why run' it was like his mind was a different person.
Questions ricocheted in his mind like pinballs in a machine. How could he even contemplate sharing Dylan? Did he want this for himself? And what about Von? Why was it so difficult to banish these feelings he had tried to ignore?.
Ever since that incident-yes that was what he was calling it- happened in the hotel and the ELEVATOR, Micheal hasn't found peace whenever he thought of Von.
With a sigh he kept walking, and it was like a slap in the face because everywhere he turned, familiar sights greeted him—a tree they had picnicked under, a bench where they had shared ice cream on a lazy hot afternoon when neither of them needed to be at the university or just a random weekend.
Now, they all stood in stark contrast to the growing chasm he felt between him and the possibilities Dylan and Von presented. Physically, he was just feet away from the love he cherished, yet emotionally he felt they were million of miles apart.
