The next morning, the soft morning light trickled through the window of Ryoma's small room. Rimuru, resting quietly on the counter, watched as the boy stirred awake, stretching his arms with a yawn. He noticed Rimuru sitting patiently, as still and serene as ever, and gave him a smile.
"Morning, little buddy," Ryoma greeted, patting the slime affectionately. "Looks like we've got a big day ahead."
Ryoma quickly set about his morning tasks, tending to his slimes and preparing his equipment. Rimuru observed with interest as the boy moved about his routine with practiced ease, his focus unmatched. Just as Ryoma finished his preparations, there was a knock at the door.
"Mr. Ryoma, a visitor is here to see you," called a voice from the hallway.
Ryoma perked up, surprised. "A visitor? I wonder who it could be." He picked Rimuru up, setting him comfortably on his head as usual, and opened the door. To his astonishment, standing outside was a familiar face, Saria Jamil, a young noblewoman from a family Ryoma had grown close to during his time with them.
Lady Saria was accompanied by her father, Reinbach Jamil, and her younger brother, Welanna. All three had warm smiles on their faces, clearly happy to see him. Ryoma blinked, a mix of surprise and excitement evident on his face.
"Lady Saria! Lord Reinbach! What a surprise!" Ryoma greeted, bowing respectfully.
Reinbach chuckled, giving the boy a light pat on the shoulder. "None of that 'Lord' business, Ryoma. We're here as friends, not on formal duty."
Saria's face lit up with a cheerful grin. "It's been so long! We missed you. I hope we're not interrupting anything."
"Oh, not at all," Ryoma replied, his cheeks slightly flushed. "I was just about to head into town."
At that moment, Welanna noticed the blue slime perched on Ryoma's head, its gentle glow catching his eye. "Whoa! Is that a new slime, Ryoma?"
Ryoma nodded, lifting Rimuru gently from his head to show him off. "Yeah, he's... special. I found him in a cave not far from here. His species is called an 'Ultimate Slime,' but I'm still learning about him."
Rimuru, sensing their curiosity, remained perfectly still, silently observing. To the Jamil family, he seemed just like any other tamed slime, but Saria's keen eyes picked up on something more.
"He feels different... calmer," Saria remarked thoughtfully. "You know, slimes are usually a bit restless, but this one seems so... peaceful."
Ryoma chuckled, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, he's been really calm. He doesn't make any sounds or move much on his own, he just... accompanies me everywhere. He's actually become my favorite little companion."
Saria's expression softened as she looked at Rimuru. "He must feel safe with you, Ryoma."
After catching up, the Jamil family suggested they spend the day in town, and Ryoma eagerly agreed, bringing Rimuru along. As they strolled through the bustling streets, Ryoma pointed out different spots of interest to the Jamils, who listened with great interest. Rimuru, observing everything from his perch on Ryoma's head, marveled at the simplicity and warmth of this world.
The Jamil family was clearly fond of Ryoma, and their interactions with him were full of kindness and respect, something Rimuru found refreshing to witness. There was no hidden agenda, no demands, just genuine care.
At one point, Saria pulled Ryoma aside to a small stall selling sweets. "This is my favorite part of town," she confessed with a grin. "Do you want to try some?"
